The garden has been cleared in preparation for hover testing
And hopefully the weekend will see some proper flights at the local field to iron out any problems.
Thanks

Hey
Just got it all setup and ready for a test hover! Hopefully will be tomorrow if I have the time or def friday. The 3GX V2 software is very thorough lol.
Does anyone have some suggested settings for a beginner for the flight modes in V2 as I'm using default at the moment.
Thanks

Hi Rich, I have a 500 and different TX so not the same. I assume you have setup V2 with the 8 deg cyclic in DIR. After I did this and went back into flight mode I recheck the cyclic and found it had 14 deg. Way to much for a beginner like me. I had to reduce the Elevator and Aileron travel limit to 20 to get it back to 9 deg which was recommended for a beginner. I also found after the first hover it was super sensitive compared to the setup I had before with V1.2 (which was super slow and stable) So I reduced the flip and roll rate down to about 20 as well. I also bumped the flight condition control up to 60 and I might even try 70 next time to see the effect. I put the training skids back on while playing around to be safe. I figure its almost impossible to make it too slow on the stick while learning so started with a slow and steady setting and speed up as needed. I would be surprised if I use more than a couple of degrees cyclic for hovering and gentle flying around so might as well get some stick travel back. Still only using tiny stick inputs.I have a different heli and TX so im sure different. I just played on the bench with different setting until it looked close to the old setup.Anyone please tell me if you think this is the wrong approach but seems to work for me.Last edited by helimadness; 22-03-2012, 02:21 AM.

On mine I kept the defaults but run 30% expo. It feels a bit like the mcpx (just several times bigger). I also kept have a 80% flat throttle curve on my idle up as the head speed is high and adding more just made it even more twitchy. So if you are happy with the twitchiness of the mcpx then you will be fine. Otherwise drop the roll and flip rate down (as suggested in above post).Gaui R5 + 14S + Tribunus 200 + Scorpion 4530/540 + Bavarian Demon Axon

Thanks for the info helimadness.
Ive set mine up and set 12 degrees on the pitch and 8 degrees on cyclic then I went through the setup. i have just checked the pitch and am getting 12 degrees on throttle/pitch and 14 degrees on cyclic. I will try your settings and let you know what happens.

Thanks alastair
I have a flat throttle in idle up set at 82. I was going to ask about expo but i will start off with 30%. Also I'm going to try the above settings to see what happens. Might get out for a hover at lunch time.
Thanks

Rich,
My understanding is that when you set it up with 12 and 8 as you have done.. the unit just used those as a baseline to know what 12 and 8 degrees is on the servo travel. Then outside DIR mode it will use more than that if needed to achieve the roll or flip rate you have asked for. So just reduce the roll and flip rate. If you have binding then reduce the travel slider (but I had none on my pro so guess you will be the same)

Yeah,I would leave the cyclic and pitch alone and set it up as the manual states, then adjust the roll rates in the software. The limits are there for a reason.

Hey
Just moving on to the canopy and I have been trying to straighten it out as it rubs badly on the main gear and servo.

Been told this is quiet bad. Will I be better off going back to the suppler to get a replacement or will it go back to a normal shape? Been using a hairdryer and boiling water but it won't go back far enough.
Thanks

I have two canopies for my 450 and neither seem to be a squint as that one. Might be an idea to contact the supplier.... but don't let that stop you getting the thing in the air!! I flew mine the first couple of times without canopy as did not want to break that on a silly crash.Gaui R5 + 14S + Tribunus 200 + Scorpion 4530/540 + Bavarian Demon Axon
