Flown mine again today with the new v2 software she's like flying on rails,tracks perfect in every manoeuvre, so now cant wait for weekend all 12 lipo's charged ready oh & no worrys about running out I have another 12 ready for my 500elf which is also on v2.

450 Pro Maiden Flight

Sorry about the video my 9 year old had to stand in as camera girl!

Here is the video of the maiden. I tried to go left right then forward back but it was far to twitchy. The setup was as per manual with 30% expo in the Tx.

Now a little messing about with the 3GX software to calm it down a little.

Oh yes. I'm well chuffed with myself . My first build and it flew on the first time of asking.

When I checked it over one of the tail support booms had come loose at the horizontal fin. Checked it and looks like I was a bit tight on the thread lock! When I powered it up to check the servos and pitch it was showing 2 red lights on the 3GX and the pitch servo horn had dropped down and would not centre. This is when I panicked! But a rebind sorted it all out. Just going to sort out the roll rates now to calm it down a bit. Hopefully get out over the weekend and get 6 packs through it. I will report back after some setting changes and let you know how i got on.

I adjusted the roll rates on the laptop today and downloaded the info to the 3GX. Set the rates at 20 to see what that would do then went into the garden for a test hover. As I took off there was a big tail wag that sent a cold shiver down my spine then the heli started spinning out of control. I flicked throttle hold (phoenix training thank you) and it autoed/dropped to the heli pad in one piece. After close inspection I found that the servo arm was bending not moving and the tail pitch was jammed. After taking the tail blades out a bearing fell out in bits.

Any ideas why this would fail? could I have put it in the wrong way?

Glad you got it down safely. From what I have read this is not unusual for the 450 tail. The bolts holding the bearings are way to tight sometimes from the factory and put a lot of load of the bearing. Did you strip the tail down and reassemble during build?

Yes stripped everything down and re thread locked/greased/glued/silicone as per the instructions. I must of over tightened it then and damaged it. I've just ordered some more bearings so will be back in the air Tuesday with any luck. Was looking forward to putting a few batteries through it this weekend.
