  • It may not have been you as if it was over tightened at the factory the bearing may have already been damaged. When you get new bearings in let the thread lock do it's magic

Again good save!! I would definitely be carrying a bag of bits (like my mcpx today)

    • That's exactly what happened to a bearing in my tail grip too, locked the tail blades and the servo couldn't move them at all. With the same outcome too, except I stripped the umbrella gear. cheapo bearings it would appear.

      • Hey

Thanks for the help guys. I checked the other bearing and found nothing wrong. But have stripped and cleaned and re applied thread lock just to make sure. Just waiting for the bearings to turn up now then will be back in the air.

        Thanks

          • Had a maiden yesterday. Not good tail bearing on mine are good but the tail shaft is not manufacturer correct there is play on the shaft after umbrella before it goes in bearing. On take off starting to spin so landed on some twigs and striped forward torque tube gears. Twigs what crap are these things made of. Also having troubles fitting canopy anyone else?

                • Hey

The pro is all fixed and awaiting a test flight in the sunshine/cloud. I have turned the roll rates down to 30 on the 3gx so I will let you know how this goes, hopefully with a video, tomorrow

                  Thanks

Turning roll rates down to 30% I'd suggest turning gain pots up to between 2 to 3 0'clock maybe more to give swash faster stabilisation
Today's outlook is fine for flying.

                    • Hi Jim

What will this do exactly? Just affect the swash speed?

What I'm trying to do is slow it down a bit when going forward, back and left right as I find it a bit to twitchy at the moment.

                      Thanks

                      • +1 on what jim says (I turned mine just past 1 o'clock). I found it "locked" the heli in much more. e.g. when hovering or doing a piro it stayed in one place.

All the best with the next flight. Will hopefully fly mine at the weekend with the new esc

With the 3gx if you lower the parameters you then need raise the gain pots this then will level the heli much quicker & give heli a very stable heli, as you progress you'll find you will need to up parameters & drop the gains, a 3D pilot would have there gain about 11ish & parameters to default settings or above so everything is set around the swash behavior, if you connect heli to the pc & move the parameter scale from say 0% to 100% you will soon learn how the swash behaves same as the gain just turn pots to zero & tilt heli the turn the full clockwise & tilt heli you will see which way the swash levels out the fastest so if you in the hover learning stages & small maneouvers you need to be on the high side of the gain & lower side of paramerter default setting.

                            Swash tilt 40
Cyclic damping from zero to 50%

                              • Hey
A quick update. I just adjusted the pots and had a quick flight and wow the hold is better and it seems more stable in the hover. But landed it and caught the stick which tipped it over just enough to catch the blades!

Looks like I got away lightly with just 2 bent pitch rods.

Will check the feathering shaft later just to be on the safe side. Ordered the titanium turnbuckles with 1 normal thread and 1 reverse thread to replace the bent ones. Any one used these before?

                                Thanks
