  • Thanks Alistair

I've just checked the bearings and there smooth and tight but will be replacing them soon with a upgrade kit. I am just waiting for the charger to finish so I can try moving the battery forward and the blades track well. I have managed to loose a few clicks on the sub trim by redoing it and starting with the pitch servo. Will let you know how is goes after the flights.

    Thanks again

No probs.. should have tried one thing at a time but it was a matter of 'well I have it apart now so might swell do it all'.

FYI... I put the pitch measuring bar on the rotor head so I could hold it by that and see what the balance was like (on my flybar heli it is soo much easier to check balance )

Good tip thanks. Will try that when the light rain stops...

        • Hey
I adjusted the CoG using the battery and gave it a slight nose down slant. It seems to have cured it. I used the pitch measuring bar to sort the CoG and it works a treat. Good tip.

Glad you got it working. I have put a little tape mark where I need to put the different types of batteries I have so the COG is about right without needing to test each time.

Correction from earlier post: Where I said check blade alignment in the previous post I meant tracking. I put some more visible markings at the end of the blades and saw they were a little bit out when I had it spooled up on the ground.

            • Hey

I have 2 marks on mine too now 1 for the turnigy packs and 1 for the gens ace packs so will see how they go in about an hour or so. I thought you meant tracking and checked it and it is spot on for now.

              Thanks for your help

              • Trex 450 Re-wiring

                Hi guys,

After having a having a heavy crash with the heli (Attempting tick tocks!) I decided to re-do all the wiring having had a look through this thread. Just thought I would share some pics with you all. I have braided all the servo wires too as I found even with sanding down the CF it still started to wear into my servo wires...maybe I had them too tight..who knows but thought it was worth doing.

I bought all the servo braiding and heat shrink from align-trex.co.uk:

                1Metre 6mm black braided servo wrap (braid Black) - Accessories - ALIGN-TREX.co.ukhttp://www.align-trex.co.uk/64mm-black-heatshrink-sleeving-hea-tblack-p-3608.html

                I
used this video to help me with the braiding:
                http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5C6tLH2pvV

                T
his video also gave me the idea for the tail servo wiring solution:

                A
ny questions just fire away :-)

As you can see form the pictures the braiding doesn't always go up to the butt of the servo. This is because I needed some sharp bends from the servo and it was too stiff otherwise. I am sure this could be resolved with a little more thought though.

                • Hey

Looking good. I like the idea with the ferrite ring, keeps it out the way.

Yeah it works pretty well under there :-)

I'm going to have a play with the CG like you did as I too have a rearward drift. How did you find fitting the canopy with the battery further forward? I have already got my sub-trim as low as I can get it (At the 90 degree point) and then once swash levelled. I heard some people bought a pack of servo ends and just played around popping different ones on to see which ones were closer to 90 degree with no servo sub trim.

                    • Hi

For the CoG you have to move the battery a fair way forward. To solve this I made the holes longer in the canopy to move the canopy forward 5mm. This works a treat for my gens ace but is very tight with the turnigys. The turnigys are 3-4mm longer than the gens ace packs.
