  • If the Status lights not changing then you don't have channel 7 correctly assigned.
Waht values do you have in gyro settings. Not sure on DX8 if the HH and Rate are both 0-100% or if one should be above 50% and the other below 50%.
I always use gyro end points to set gyro rates rather than gyro function in radio.

    • Rich,

Any luck? Good suggestions from others about checking channel. I messed up mine as assumed it was same as blade 400.

      • Well thanks for all the help. It seems operator error was the cause! I had not assigned a switch for the rudder so it was staying in HH mode and not able to switch from HH to rate. Lesson learnt and now everything makes sense and my gyro channel is active. Also found out a red light on the gov channel is "gov off" and nothing more. Have now also got L Trim setup to adjust gyro rate, thanks Alistair. A steep learning curve going from DX6i to DX8 but well worth it

Also found out the flashing sats was to do with the throttle hold switch. It was not switching off properly so when I power up the heli its going into a warning mode as its detecting a input from the Tx. Im sure a call to horizon Monday will completely solve this issue.

Again thank you for all your help on this issue. Please don't go any where as I will probably need more assistance.....

did you change your skids on the MCPX ?

Also how are those orange blades?

              • Hey Tom

I have changed the skids to KBDD ones as the microheli one where getting worse for wear. The KBDD blades are very good and feel in-between the standard and bullet blades.

Also just took the pro out for a test to try and dial in the tail and found that another bearing had failed in the rear tail grips! I've just changed it out so will have to wait a hour or so for the thread lock to go off. Good job my preflight checks include pulling at the blade grips. This was causing a slight bind on the tail servo control arm so maybe this is why I was finding it so hard to dial it in.

                • doesnt sound like your having much luck with the heli at the moment!

I really want to get the 450 X out in the open then i can make an informed decision on mine....

That battery checker you told me to get is the bomb!

                  • Looking good. Like the high vis tail blades. Get some heat shrink tubing over those sat aerials

I replaced the bearings on my main shaft and the tail at the weekend... as one in the tail was notchy and one on the main shaft was similar. Had similar problems with my Blade 400 (they all seem to install low end chinese bearings but does keep the price down).

                    • Well just been out for a quick test after replacing the bearing. Whoop Whoop tail solid it will not budge

Just 1 more test flight, as I ran out of time with the battery, to fine tune the gyro then off to the field for full on 3D crashing I mean gentle flying.

Just got some more small bore heat shrink in the post to sort out the ariels on the sats

Im also thinking of getting a complete upgraded bearing set so I can change the lot and not worry about the crap ones anymore. Do you know if the RC Screw kit is any good? Or are there other brands available?

                      Thanks

                      • Not sure about bearing kits as I have only replaced when I felt they were wearing out (crash a lot so can inspect them regularly ;-) )

                          • Other option is here but their site is unclear as to what brands/quality of bearings they are:
                            RCbearings Limited
never used them but know a few folks here do.

                            • Hey

I've finally got round to swapping the tx over on the 450 pro to the DX8. I have re done the dir and adjusted the pitch and levelled the swash to suit and now I'm getting both blades reading 0 at mid stick but at full pitch I'm getting 12 on one blade and 11 ish on the other one. Is this normal or is it a set up problem?

                              Thanks

                              • Hi Rich.
When you setup the swash with the level gauge at did you check it through the range? Maybe pop the head off put the level gauge back on and go through the full travel of the swash and see what is happening. Swash should stay level through it full pitch travel.
How much Sub trim are you using? Are the servo arms all at 90 deg when powered up mid stick?
Not sure I know the answer but sure these are the questions other people will ask that may have the answer :-)
                                Cheers.
