  • Synergy N5- HELP OneWay Bearing

Finally got to put some fuel through my N5 yesterday but after 2 flights noticed the one way had locked up. Not wanting to stop continued flying it for the rest of the day.

Tonight decided to strip it down to take a look, only trouble is that it is all now locked completely solid with the mainshaft half in/half out

i.e managed to twist and pull mainshaft up approx 1cm so out of bottom bearing block but now completely stuck. Have tried twisting the mainshaft whilst holding the gear but all that happened eventually was I broke the hex driver I had inserted through the mainshaft head bolt hole

Any ideas on what I can do at this stage which is not going to cause complete carnage to the heli. At the moment I'm frustrated and just feel like throwing the whole lot at the wall

And yes I am a plonker for not assessing the situation before blundering in, in a heavy handed fashion

Speak to Martin(Sao) his did exactly the same. I packed mine right out with grease before assembling so I'm hoping mine will be OK even though it looked like there was a fair bit in there to start!

Think he ended up hammering his main shaft out it was so locked in and it left scoring on the shaft or sleeve nott sure which though

try sticking it in the freezer for an hour or so, this should help the main shaft shrink and hope the bearing dont follow so easy. worth a try nick

My main shaft came out easily but the one way sleeve was jammed in. I tapped it out with a small hammer. There was some scoring on the sleeve but I gently sanded it back with some emery paper. Then I repacked the lot with some grease and it's smooth again.

that could be interesting given the mast is stuck in the heli!

i suspect the only option you have a half frame strip and put the whole thing in the freezer as suggested.

i would certainly try some light oil in it before doing the above and leave it sitting a little while.

in my own experience once these slip they never work correctly again. i THINK mines has been slipping and i'm 99% sure it jammed briefly last time out but yet again i couldn't confirm due to other things. this weekend i'll try again.

          cheers

Gaz, like your idea but think I'm going to struggle to get my whole heli in my tiny freezer above the fridge

will try some light oil but not convinced it will do the trick or the freezer, it really is jammed solid

don't really want to split the frames unless I really have to

                  Easy...
Go to iceland, drop heli in a big chest freezer, do some shopping and collect it just before you check out
