If there is enough of it sticking out you can rest a nut over the bit sticking out the mig weld into the middle of the nut onto the nipple, wait about 20 seconds the wind it out with a ring spanner. Otherwise if it's flush as above heat/wd40 and easyouts. Wind in the easyout then heat it up and squirt the wd40 on a squirt at a time until it cools down. You should then be able to wind it out with a bit of luck.

I've found a great place for sourcing all the parts i need.... www.oldskoolsuzuki.info there was a stock pipe, full fairing etc just gone but there will be more.
I'm not looking foward to removing the engine as it appears it's going to be a lift & slide jobby:ack2:. The Slingshot has a removable cradle but not the slabby:( I'd best start weight training eh.
you'll need a hand or two
the gixer engine's quite heavy to lift even out of the frame

??hmm, maybe in the pic BUT i've not cleaned any of what you see yet.
I've just found out how to remove it. Remove nuts from brackets etc, lay bike over so engine is resting on a tyre, remove bolts & lift frame away from the engine. Should be a piece of cake. I got that from the oldskoolsuzuki forum
:)That's what I did with my Laverda Jota, laid the whole thing on it's side and then lifted the frame off, it's a damn sight lighter than an engine.
Nice to see no dismantling would be complete without the obligatory hammer in the background!:)

Excellent, nice to get confirmation on the success of this method:cheers2:
Ah but did you also see the impact driver that goes with the hammer ;) I still have a lot of screws that need replacing as there as some totally forked ones i've found

Oh yeah. Just zoomed uP the pics on my piddly BB9700 screen and yes dirty tut tut. Good to see it all stripped down, good work. Took me a year to gather the enthusiasm to start stripping my bike.
Can I have a go? I miss my R1, I fancied getting an RD, wanted to do it up with neon green frame and powdercoated wheels, racing reeds and drop bars!

The gixer has renewed my bike enthusiasm. It needs a complete strip down to clean everything properly & service everything. My mate who's just got a Slingshot is not the same & just gets things running & leaves the dirt:svengo:
