  • I don't know how you do it. There was a guy on helifreak who did 43 flights on Sunday. How?

I'm burnt out after 10, max. I used to do tons of flights on FPV quads, because it was nowhere near as mentally draining. Maybe I need to switch off and just fly, which does happen sometimes.

I did 3 flights on Friday, and just 2 yesterday. After the second flight, I'd had enough. The wind direction was just too annoying at the speed it was blowing. It was 45 degrees to the two flight lines, so no matter which you flew it was in your face, and if you used both at once, it was directly in your face.
Current fleet: Goblin Thunder Sport (700), Trex 700L, Logo 600, Specter 700, Henseleit TDR, V-Baaa control.
Next heli: I have pretty much everything I want. Maybe I'll upgrade some electronics or something.

    • Me too. I don't think I have ever done more than 10 flights in a day and usually much less. Plus the club I fly at, everyone tends to arrive about noon and they stay till maybe 3 ish and it's almost always just fixed-wing (and they fly for a long time). Unlike some clubs they do not generally have more than one aircraft up at a time, so I just cannot fly back-to-back. But by 2 or 3 in the afternoon I feel like I'm done anyway.

Then if I'm the only one there I'll usually only do 3 or 4 flights and I'm ready to head back as it's just too quiet .

      • I think 12 flights is the most I've got in one flying session. I think I'd be totally burned out if i tried to do 40+ in a day, not sure if it would even be enjoyable anymore?

I guess if you have all day from dawn to dusk to get your flights in them maybe it would be do-able, but you need an understanding wife (or no wife) to do that regularly. Flying a heli with very short flight time would help too, of course.

        • I’ve done 30, in one day before, that was mainly on a 700 and a few on a plane. I think it helps if you’re practicing a move, the time just flies then.
Normally I do around 15-20 if I’m there all day or around 10 if it’s just the evening.
not at a club so I can fly back to back which is rather handy

          • Flew Thursday, Friday, Saturday, watched F3N Sunday and got half a dozen flights in after. A bit burnt out Monday, so took it easy flying and managed to cut around two acres of grass at the club in between. A good weekend all round.

              • I didn't just have a good day, I had a great bank holiday weekend at sunny MK. It was windy on Saturday but Sunday and today were ok.

I got in a good few flights, ate some cake and enjoyed some witty conversation with my club mates. About 15 of us turned up at one time or another over the weekend.

                    • Took the helis to the field. It was a bit grim looking, but almost zero wind so I had to go.

Turn out was decent, for a change, but as soon as it started spitting with rain about 2:30PM, you'd have thought the heavens had opened the way people scattered.
I stayed until it stopped, but didn't bother getting the Logo out as the sky was too rubbish and I don't like flying a silhouette.

I flew my plane (Hummer EPP) and my little HCP100S micro heli, as I fly them low/close enough that the sky isn't an issue. I had a test fly of my Trex 500 after messing with the setup, seeing as I had it with me. Naked, so no canopy, making the flying conditions even worse.

So total was 2x on my plane, 4x on my HiSky micro, and 1x on the Trex 500.

Such a promising day turned out to be so rubbish.

                        • Did 30 flights 26 on the 700l plus 4 and a bit on the 700xn, all was well until a couple of bearings fell out of the tail and I nose dived it from a great height!!! Luckily enough the only damage was to the canopy and one of the blades! Should be flying again tomorrow morning

                          • I took advantage of us finally having some good weather, and the wife being at work at 6am, to charge my batteries and fly my Align 550e and 700e from about 8am. Had some good flights on both. My 550e is now desperate for new cyclic servos (I've got some BL700H's, and a 825 for the tail arrived today, so it can go HV)

But what really put a smile on my face was falling back in love with flying my 700e. The 550e is great as a basher, but the way the 700 just floats in the air when you want to fly smoothly is something else.

However, it's been such a pain since first the ESC packed in, then the align motor went up in smoke, about a year ago. I replaced it with a Scorpion 4525 ultimate, but that needed a longer shaft from Hong Kong which took ages to arrive, then I found the motor burnout had affected ESC #2. It's replacement, an Align 130a, I just could not get set smooth enough for my liking (and it was probably overwhelmed by the motor).

Now the motor is paired with a Trinubus 200a, its back as my favourite. Just don't tell the others.

I got in three good flights but had to leave before lunchtime to go to my grand daughter's birthday party.
