  • I wish it was sunny at my field today. It was very dark, and even drizzled more than once.

I had two flights today, one on the Specter, the other on the Goblin.

Something happened today that rarely happens. I felt completely comfortable flying both those helis. It was almost sim like. If visibility was better, I'm sure today I'd have flown better today than all year. However, the heli just became a silhouette at anything other than what I'd call close, so I called it a day mid afternoon as it wasn't going to get better.
Current fleet: Goblin Thunder Sport (700), Trex 700L, Logo 600, Specter 700, Henseleit TDR, V-Baaa control.
Next heli: I have pretty much everything I want. Maybe I'll upgrade some electronics or something.

I went to the club today, unusual for a Saturday, but it had to be done given the weather.
I put a flight on my Trex 700, this time with a Heli Jive in it, to see if my tail kick was governor related. It isn't. I have a feeling that will be the last time I ever fly it. We'll see if I can be bothered to swap out the tail servo or not.

I put 3 flights on the Specter, which was flying mint. I had to tighten the tail belt as I noticed it slapping the boom while handling it. A sign of the cooler weather maybe.

Off again tomorrow. Specter is coming with me, and either the Goblin or the Logo. I'll decide when I see the weather out of the window.
      Not a jr8900 is it??
Yes the big sigpic is coming back

      • No, it's a Futaba BLS256.

I'm still not convinced it's the servo. It's the same model I had in there before I stripped the Trex of electronics for the Specter. It could be that the smaller motor is bogging too much at the same head speed I had. I could chase it up, but the Trex is going anyway and always was, and I'm not sure I can be bothered.

        • A meeting and a 60 year celebration

Hallstahammar MFK, a club i Sweden west of Stockholm celebrated 60 year since founded this weekend. Saturday was open for visitors to try simulator, RC cars and dual-control/'buddy box' flying.
A couple of helicopters that I brought got to fly a bit, too.

          • No flying for me today, I managed to stand on the boom of my heli whilst it was on the floor loading it into the car this AM. Rahhh.

I´ve had a couple of "on the ground crashes" too.
One was a Logo that fell off the wall when nylon screws holding the landing gear broke.
One was a heli falling of the bench.

Not so much damage, but still, in a way, less fun than going down flying.

Hope you get it up soon!

              • My 700 started to fall out of the back of the car last Saturday. I grabbed it to save it and the sharp corners at the trailing edge end of the blades cut my hand. It bled somewhat and a plaster had to be applied. Helicopters are dangerous.

That's so so annoying! I once had my Trex 500 fall off the shelf at home and I didn't see any damage, only to find when I got to the field the swash servo gears were stripped

                  • I went to the field today for some flights. It was glorious, but while the wind wasn't too bad, but it was constant an in your face, which took the shine off a little. Still you can't complain about weather like that in late September, even though I just did.

I did swap out the Futaba BLS256 from my Trex 700 for the KST X20 tail servo out of my Goblin, and what do you know, the tail was perfect. So it is the servo. Now I can move onto why. I did open the servo when I got it to check the gears as it was used, but mint, and I noticed on reassembly, that the gear train was slighly less free than before, so that's probably it. I'll do some experimenting tomorrow, see what I can do. Maybe I'll order new gears.

I put a few flights on my Specter. Before the last flight I noticed the skid pipes weren't fully clamped by the little grub screws, so flipped the heli over to nip up the grub screws, only to find one of the struts cracked in 3 directions with the grub screw at the centre. So that needs fixing. I might just glue it, while I mull over fitting Trex 700 landing gear to it.

                    • Today was one of those times when I just didn't feel like flying when I got up and instead I enjoyed just having a lazy day going into town and having lunch, doing a little food shopping and just not being rushed or having any agenda. The sad thing is that this was the only civilised weather on the horizon for a while

                      • Another good afternoon at MK. It was less than sunny initially, in fact it was pouring with rain! It ceased though after less than an hour and the weather then was very pleasant. It wasn't cold and there was absolutely no wind. I have never seen it so still, it was like being indoors.

I had four flights with the 700. My hovering manoevres were just about perfect! I had three flights with the foamy which was brilliant in the still air. Mike, Adam and Alessio were still going strong when I left at about 1720 hrs.
