Quiet day at work today so I managed to sneak out at lunch for some flights, even with the car in the garage!

That Turnigy carry bag I bought is proving worth its weight in gold! Six flights on my stretched X3, great fun

Back to Morden Park.
6 flights on the 200 SRX in intermediate mode and a bit of hovering in advanced mode.
I've removed the Huey body off the Blade SR in preparation for my first attempt at CP flying soon. The wind was too strong for me today to try it.
Stupidly the Huey was the first heli i bought and i smashed it to pieces on the first attempt, That was a year ago and i've been building up to trying again with my SRX, CPS and Phoenix.
Next calm day and i'm going for it! (what's the worse that can happen?)

2 flights on Protos Max


Had 2 flights at the field with the Protos at lunch. Went over flips, rolls and got some more half piro flips in. Towards the end of the second pack a screech, clat, clip and loss of power put the adrenaline right at the back door. I was inverted and hit rescue which immediately killed the head speed as it climbed. A quick decision to bleed off as much headspedd as possible so it dropped into the crops with minimal damage. Just then it came back to life.. Fastest. Landing . Ever.


Turns out the motor can was moving up and down. The only thing stopping it separating was the pinion. Got home and pulled the motor out to find all the bearings were knackered and the shaft was ruined. It looks like the shaft was turning freely in the bearings which caused all the damage on the shaft.

3 flights on Protos Max


Had 3 flights at lunch today on the Protos. After rebuilding the motor, with new bearings and shaft, I had a quick check to make sure everything was ok and the belt was running on the pinion and main gear. Then moved onto new moves practise. I got my half piro flips to come out at the same height they started at (normally lose height) and got my version of the aileron tic toc to a point where I can see what I need to do to improve them. A great session but the wind was a tad to strong and dragged the heli away a few times.

Had a bit of a breakthru tho, been struggling with my left hand turns. About half way thru the turn i am loosing altutude suddenly and aggresively. So much so at times i am having to abandon the turn to get it back under control. Right hand turns are good, seem very much easier and more controlable.

Anyways the sun was low so i swapped positions, so i was flying 180 deg from normal, and its still the left turns. Reading a few older threads on here i decided to try a few things. It seems i am pitchin the nose down half way thru the turn, so its gaining forward speed but obviously loosing height. I tried to slow the turn down and really make a concious effort to limit the elevator and it didnt drop anywhere near as bad. So i just need to get on with that and hopefully get my input error dialed out!

So a happy two flights!

Sunny MK was sunny apart from a couple of showers. As usual the company was great.

I had a couple of flights with my 450. After fitting the TG 306 servos it flies very nicely. I had programmed auto rotation bail out on to the Castle ICE 2 on my 700. That also worked very well. All in all a good day.

Fantastic days flying down at North Notts flying club, I've been there 12 hours today with some great flights using the Spirit FBL system for the first time. And then for tea we had a superb BBQ all cooked by Jason Platts
