MASSIVE WINDS - means? even more loops - had a good day at the field, few good but enjoyable flights with the 700, didnt think of taking the 550 out before the rain kicked in, definitely the right practice for you guys wanting to attend the MK grass roots, you better come practice while the weather is HOT ....

Well, clear blue skies with a little nit of wind is no match for the old ESP. Got her dialled now and it flies absolutely perfect. First time I habe ever used Thunder Tiger blades and they are awesome, very quite. Nearly had a brown trouser moment when doing a reverse loop and did not apply much negative on top. Heli recovered with just two feet of the deck.

4 flights on the 550 and 3 on the 700, was a bit gusty but nice and sunny

A nice early morning low head speed session. A couple of single 6s 5000 flights at 1000rpm and the rest with 2x4200s at around 1300 rpm, with ten minutes flight time for either setup. Great for cold hands and cotton wool head!

Took the 130x out for a blast but the tail let go after a minute so went into the works and did some welding instead...not welded for a few years and can't I tell it. Think the angle grinder will be used a lot on this build!

Flew the Logo on Tuesday in a light/med wind & was very disappointed again. I honestly thought I wouldn't notice the wind but it was ballooning all over the place?? WTF is that all about?? It has put me very much in the frame of mind again of ditching FBL & going flybarred again coz at least that stays put when spooling up in a wind & IMO is very predictable in strong gusts. I've lost all confidence in flying in strong winds which defeats the object of why I bought a 30 size leccy in the first place whereas before I would fly it regardless even if just hovering.

Flew my vbarred 450 on Monday in the hurricane, had to keep dodging falling trees but heli just sat there in the hover whilst the world fell apart around it

Yea whatever you funny focker. Tuesday was not that windy at all but it was feeling the smallest of wind. I thought it was meant to fly better than flybarred in the wind

Lol maybe you need to up the style to make it more precise or increase the main rotor gyro gain paddy ?

Can't answer the ballooning as that's just the wind on the rotor disc. If you prefer flybar then put one back on mate but you don't see many at comps anymore so people prefer fbl for a reason. It's not for everyone ....................you've proved that pmsl

Surely translational lift happens with fly bar as well (not that I've flown ancient technology so could be talking Pooh).
