    • Well guys, finally the maiden of the new 700e DFC HV & mini vBar. Two packs and no drama, although I am just trying to massage the death grip fingers that I had on the Tx!!

First lift off (with old matching Align 5200') without canopy went fine, but had a little tail wag. Landed to put the cano on and after some faffing with that grrr I also noticed that I had my bank switching in position 1 which I had set with higher gains. Put it back to pos 0 (lower gains) and the wag is gone. Tried IU and James commented that he thought the head speed was a tad high (tacho'd at 2100) so I dropped it by 3%, but don't know what that is yet.

Ran 4.5 mins on the new packs and came down with 56% left, but to be honest all I was doing was flying level, (ish, yes I know James I need to work on that, and I promise I will). Reckon I can go to 5mins for now. Checked the receiver batt after the 1st flight and it was down to 24%, but that must of been all the setting up stuff I did. Charged in the back of James BMW (thanks James) and measured one flight use, looks to be around 7% with gentle flying, so I would guess 5 flights for now is what I'll get safely (but I can see the reasoning behind using a bec + backup pack), nearly caught me out.

Visibility was not the best, but not sure I like the Align cano to see in the sky, but as I say, the sky was pants. Then the wind started to pick up a bit, nothing too much, but I had flown my two packs without drama, so I was a happy bunny.

One thing I did notice was the amount of momentum this thing has over the 550e, I sort of compared it to an eagle versus a gnat. All in all loved it, but need to relax the next time I fly it.

One last thing, big thanks again to James (JimmyHorns) for coming down the field, giving it a quick once over, then giving me some moral support. Cheers mate.

      • Nice 1 if your using the align hv servos you be surprised how much juice they pull in the air just be carefull and keep an eye on pack.

I use a 5amp pack on my nitro and only get a few flights before voltage spikes drop heavy

        • It was sunny and calm so I had a couple of flights in the garden with my 130x. I have recently replaced the blade grips and holder with a Lynx aluminium set after the plastic ones broke. It flew very well. I did some piros and nose in, the limit of my ability at the moment.

                    • Did YOU fly today??

Maidened my (new to me) Trex 550e I got off here today, finally got round to putting it together and setting it up last night and this morning. Charged 6 batteries up on the PL8 this morning and went down the field. Was a bit windy but not so much that you couldn't fly. Had a struggle with the mower doing a patch to fly from as the grass was at least 6" long and wet so kept clogging the mower!

Went through the AR7200bx setup again and set HH gain to 32 and 37 on the DX9 to see which setting was best. Popped it into a hover, the governor kicked in and all was good. The tail was spongy at 32 and better at 37 but still needs looking at. Did some pitch pumps (or as the lads in our club say an RVMHC shuffle) and it held ok. Did some gentle fig of 8 circuits and then hooned it round the sky for the last minute of the flight with a few stall turns thrown in for good measure. Could certainly tell it was windy up there as it got blown about right at the top! Altered HH to 40 for the last flight (4 batts in total, 2 Opti 5000mah 35C's and 2 Haiyin 5000mah 20C's. Surprisingly the Haiyins came down cooler?! Had 5 mins on the timer and still yet to check what the packs had left in them as left my battery checker at home!

Looking forward to flying it again. Just need to finish setting up the TDR and fly that now!

                          • Well it was very gusty today and I am still re-learning how to fly helis again but in my brain I figured if I can fly a small 200 size flybarred heli with a wandery tail in a stiff breeze then anything else I upgrade to should be a lot easier!

I did in fact manage to do a sort of tail in figure eight (lazy eight??) then I started to turn 45 deg left on the left half and vice versa on the right. Heck I even went nose in for a bit!!

I am also determined to learn to turn left this time round! Last time I could turn smoothly to the right and only really do a sharp turn left, I couldn't rotate left on the spot without crashing either!

All in all I did 4 flights on my little gaui 200 and by the 4th one I was almost back to doing figure eights! (only turning with the tail in mind!) so well chuffed considering it's only 8th flight after a 9 month lay off!!
