Did my first complete auto's today with the 450 bit bumpy on the landings but no harm done

Happy with that

Had an issue with my Talon on the 550dfc but that's for another thread

Went to usual flying spot this morning, I had 8 lipos with me and the 500. All was going well until on my 6th flight, coming out of roll I heard a grinding noise and headspeed dropped. Flick normal hold and landed quickly. Closer inspection revealed stripped main gear . Maybe the mesh was not good when I replaced the 500mx to 500bl. Went home with 2 undischarged packs, on the bright side; I was able to dial the heli to my liking. She is now repaired and ready for Friday's flying. :beer::beer::beer:

Another glorious day of flying. 500 flew 6 packs without any mishaps. A few niggles though, 3rd pack as it was going to a reverse loop; the tail blew out , luckily it was on top of the loop so manage to correct it. Good thing I have my bluetooth with me so a few adjustment with the vbar and it is sorted. Cant seem to get rid of a small tail wag though. I decrease the gain by 55 and it was not holding properly so put it back to 60.I used the 3g blade for the first time after flying the "3d" blade for quite a while and it was better. A quick question though, how do you get a perfect roll? Can seem to get it. I can do it perfectly on the sim but on the heli, it corkscrew a bit.

Is your vbar in line with the boom ? If it's not it can cause a roll to corkscrew. Odds on it is just your collective management though lol.

I think it's my collective management that needs working Don, vbar is inline with the boom. I used a lego to make sure it is perfectly straight.

Yep been flying today 3 packs through the Giblet. one to settle me nerves 2 to go mental (ish) got my funnels and blades out boom level hurricanes to a good standard. Tried some piro flips and TBH they were quite good. kept them reasonably on one spot.

Session didnt end well tho. Heli pitched forwards of its own volition, so out of instinct I gave full back and full collective which didnt make a jot of difference it still went in nose first Made a bit of a hole in the ground and a mess of the heli..........

Discharge d 4 more packs on the 500 this morning. My ham-fisted collective management is no good for the quick roll rate of the 500. Getting used to flying this bird like a 450 now, "fly it like you stole it", as they say. Time to rest as I have 2 12hr night shift ahead of me. Hopefully on my 5 days off next week, the weather clears so I could practice some more but looking at the website it looks grim.

Had a few packs on the 450 which was not flying right after a prang, got it going again after a few tweaks to the tail.

The Logo grrrrrrrr doing my head in. Got new metal pulleys installed and a new belt, spooled up and the belt is not riding centrally on the pulleys and the teeth are slipping on the auto gear, the belt is as tight as I can get it. Close to giving up with it. Argghhhhhh give me a torque tube any day. Belts are for goats!

Should it be that tight? If you run it with a little slack, there should be less friction slowing the head down in autos.

Yea it needs to be tight Richard

Had issues with it being too loose before, had it slip off the tail gear completely plus if it's too loose the teeth could meet in the middle of the boom.

Its a new belt and this was its first flight, I've just reversed it out of curiosity and hovered it in the garden, does seen a bit better but I think I can hear a clicking noise where it might be slipping still but that maybe my mind playing tricks on me. Hopefully it'll wear itself in

Very pleased with myself today, emptied 4 lipos in the trex 450, did some nice sport flying and never lost control once just ordered another 5 lipos, really starting to enjoy the hobby now.....

Best day of the week ; the sun is out, so am I with the 7hv. 6 flights and loving every minute of it. Strange though as this bird flips and rolls on a dime so there something must be wrong with my setup and my collective timing on the 500.
