Thanks for your quick answer robgt, I have looked in settings panal, and your transmitter, but it does not list the esky 6 channel tx only, 4 channel tx's, on the helicopter all works as Lama4 except when you flick the switch (idle up) half thotle is like a nutral and up throtle lifts heli, down throtle pushes heli down, i dont know what thats called yet. you get now why i called my thread the idiots guide, because i am totally new to all this heli stuff and still trying to fathom out what and how these things work, its like alchemy to me mate, i do know not to put your beak to near things and flick little silver switches. whooo, that was close.

You can setup your own transmitter in the software - you will need to create a new transmitter profile and go through the calibration process (dead easy wizard guides you through it) - then have a test flight to make sure everything is moving the right way - and if not, go edit the new transmitter settings you created to reverse anything that needs it, etc. E.g. after setting it up, you try to fly, but left cyclic input moves the heli right and vice-versa, you would reverse the Aileron in the transmitter settings you created on the simulator (not the physical transmitter).it does not list the esky 6 channel tx
That gives you positive and negative pitch on the main blades. With zero degrees of pitch at centre stick and equal degress of pitch top and bottom (10 degrees, for example) you can fly inverted etc.except when you flick the switch (idle up) half thotle is like a nutral and up throtle lifts heli, down throtle pushes heli down, i dont know what thats called yet

Nice one robgt, been reading that there is a problem with the esky and the 6 channels apparently the softdog cable on usb not being able to decode the ccpm mixing, I will try what you said. But i am having a good look around on tinternet and will get back with some answers one way or another, just another little thing to iron out, possibly that is why the 6 channel is not listed as is all the other Tx units, ahh the mistakes we make, when first we start walk, except im still on the crawling bit as yet,ROY.

Doh!been reading that there is a problem with the esky and the 6 channels apparently the softdog cable on usb not being able to decode the ccpm mixing
As far as I'm aware, ALL simulators require the signal from the transmitter to be sent as a mechanically mixed signal (i.e. not eCCPM) - the software will then do the rest.
If your Tx is ONLY a CCPM Tx, then it won't work I'm afraid.

Channels 1, 2, and 6 move in unison to perform CCPM mixing on the heli.
The CCPM mixing is hard coded into the tx transmitter, you can't turn it off. would that be right, as that is how the manual describes it to my way of thinking.
Also, all of those channels mentioned above move up and down depending on where your throttle stick is. so going on that when i try to set it up in pheonix i am getting idle up and throtle bars moving along with elevator moving slightly, tried setting up manualy and advanced but never made much differance to heli control, i would imagine that is why your futuba and dx's are so costly, and the Esky ones are cheap ie not programable. so in conclusion to all, me thinks use 4 channel to continue with my basic flight sim training, or get a new Radio set that is programable. Which i am going to have to do as the Honey Bee i have is on 72mhz. and if i attempt to use it, my family and i could end up in prison, (Had the misses on gaurd duty at the windows when i run it up earlyer, just for a second mind) and have had x-tal removed on sim, Boy these things are fun, aint they.
Now where did i put them razor blades.

I have been looking around for radio gear but would like some pointers as to which would be the best to get for around £150-£180, and what other stuff would i need if i bought a heli kit bare bones. thanksROY.

well folks here is a peachy one, as I have mentioned earlier on in my Post i have recently fitted an alloy upgrade to my Lama 4, Tonight while merrily practice hovering in the living room all of a sudden the two bottom rotor blades flew apart, never done any damage as it just came down slowly, ish. But on closer inspection the screws on either side of the alloy rotor blade holder must have unscrewed. Have i missed something here like putting locktight on the fixing screws or something.ROY.

Can anybody tell me how to get the idle up to work on key pad with Phoenix I have assigned a number key to No 5, but when i press it nothing seems to happen, is there a manual for Phoenix that tells you what the Aircraft edits do and what they effect, i have had a look round the Internet but can not find anything with any detail.ROY.

And folks for my next question, how is it i find it much easier to control a Raptor 30 sport than an Honey bee King in the flight sim, for the life of me i can not get the Honey bee to hover still, yet when i try the Raptor it seems much more forgiving and stable, would that be the same with the real thing as trying to fly the Honey bee makes me feel like throwing my PC out the window.ROY.

Larger heli's are generally more stable than the smaller ones.
You can adjust the parameters of a heli on the sim to affect how it flies - but trying to get it as close to how it really flies as possible is the best bet for accurate sim practice that translates well to the real world.

Check that you dont have a conflict on the number keys, I'm not in front of the sim at the mo but I think the default for idle up is 3 and wheel retract/lower for fixed wing is 5Originally posted by The Gagsy View PostCan anybody tell me how to get the idle up to work on key pad with Phoenix I have assigned a number key to No 5, but when i press it nothing seems to happen, is there a manual for Phoenix that tells you what the Aircraft edits do and what they effect, i have had a look round the Internet but can not find anything with any detail.

sorted it thanks guys remapped keys to 3 idle up 5 landing gear and seems to work ok now, now what about them control surface edits is there any articles that tell you what they are and what they ajust.
