I think from reading lots of threads, its more a case of how much will it cost
Waiting on a feathering spindle for the 450SE replaced the other broken bits, broke the Honeybee FP yesterday but had enough bits to fix it and got an almost controlled hover for the first time.

woh now all i need is a few months to take that lot in, I never knew you needed a degree to set one of them things up, personally I think it would be easier to train as a space shuttle pilot than program one of those things do they do any good books that tells ya what all that stuff is and does. My problem is there is no clubs near me any more that fly helicopters so no one to learn off. its all the old trial and error method, and thats the costly way. THINK I WILL GO BACK TO PAPER AIRPLANES.

                  Saveing Money

I have a quandary after looking around for a while i have decided to go for Futaba 6EX 2.4ghz opinion welcome, i use a local model shop which is Scale Hobbies in sandy lane skelmersdale, a small shop with not a massive stock, if frugal, he is more into boats than planes. But what a top shop it is. You can go in there for a part and come out an hour or more later as all the modelists in area wonder in and out. its like your local pub. so he has this TX set but its £20 dearer than i can get it for on tinternet. Am i wrong in putting this extra £20 in his pocket given the the fact this guy stopped doing his repairs to help me solve a few problems I'm having with my setup, and always has the time to help, and is a top guy. or just be a minge bag and get it Cheaper elsewhere. MORAL in my opinion support you LMS or it will go. Answered my own quandary.

in my business we can pay up to £100 an hour for a consultant. remember that having no one to talk too has already got you a 72mhz set

£20 sounds dirt cheap for unlimited future advice. give him the business!!

Question????? In Phoenix on simulation, setup speed. What would be the real time speed on simulation? would it 100%. Would practicing at say 50% and slowly building the speed up be better, rather than trying to master it at full speed. As most of flight controls need to be hard wired into brain for your reactions to become natural, as seems to be the comments of lots of people here. Has anybody tried learning this way, or will it just give you more problems.

Leave the simulation speed at 100% and use the trainer mode to learn a channel or two at a time, and build up from there. You'll be suprised how quickly you'll pick it up!

                        Cheers,

Don't worry Gagsy, I used to have the same issues with all the 3d stuff, I can now hover (sort of) almost any of them, they used to run away completely but at least now I can land them, I used to think 'bloody Heck, this isn't possible, how do they fly those things?' But now I realise they aren't so difficult, just a bit of a challenge, I even flew a TREX and Blade 400 upside down last evening and got them right side up and landed okay afterwards. So keep going, and when you feel like 'I can't do this crap', instead of giving up, change to something easier.

What I sometimes do to ease tension is set a high wind or something similar, then try to fly at lakeside or wherever there's water, and end up killing myself laughing as the various models take early baths, like the other night when I watched the Pitts Special get lifted into the lake... And a phonebox, trees, me etc.

Hey it's on a sim, erego it doesn't hurt and it costs nothing.

Oh i ain't loosing Patience with it, my plan is to get in around an hour a night on Phoenix to get some where near when the summer comes, i have the planes as well and can fly them pretty well. so when the nice nights come i can at least fly something. what i found is that lowering the Sim speed and flying for half an hour it then lets you see the stick inputs and recover, and i then switch it back to 100% it does help you because you remember the inputs you used. it also lets you have a bit of mastery over the model and keeps your enthusiasm going, i can hover the honeybee and trex pretty well tail in now at 100% speed. we can but see.

Is it working, well I think it is. After switching from 50% to 100% speed on sim and doing that on all training sessions ie 30 Min's 50% then 30 Min's 100% i find its becoming easier to control the models. so much so that my lama 4 is flying in a more controlled manner now in my living room i can now do more precise maneuvers, i even took the honeybee up for hover tonight, in living room and managed a couple of seconds of controlled hover. so to newbies give it a go, sim time don't cost ya nothing.

youth always wins over old git, today my wifes sister came to visit from Melton mowbry with her young son who is also into model flying he fly's planes, so i preceded to show him my collection of planes and helis, then let him loose on Phoenix he is only 14 years old, he showed me how good he was with the planes, and i then put the helis on and demonstrated my proficiency of the hover, then with a gleeful smile said here you have a go. he was hovering in no time and then was showing me what to do, at which time i gracefully retired and just watched, totally demoralized. is it me or what or do these young whipper snappers have the edge.
