      • Just starting out myself, have lots of experience with RC cars, trucks, gliders and combat wings but see the heli as the ultimate challenge. Anyway my point is, have a read of this.... http://www.dream-models.com/eco/flying-index.html Seems like a pretty good 'idiots guide'.

My 1st heli is arriving tomorrow and i'll be following that guide. Thought it might aid future forum searches if this guide was present in this thread, what with the thread title.

Apologies if the guide has been linked to already in this thread.

          • Hi all i have taken out my Raptor 30 yesterday, and first off i had pig of a job starting it, then trying to get it to run was total waste of time, engine would rev up and then die off then rev up again tried richening mixture while it improved it a bit it still would not run very well at all, i was wondering as weather was cold around 4c would that have an affect to that extent also would fitting a hotter plug help winter flying its an OS 37 with an No4 plug in at moment the reason im asking about plug and temp is that when i took the nitro plane out that too was acting up more or less along the same lines but nowhere near as bad, i richened that up as well which seemed to sort it but even that was not on its normal par. how much does temperature affect two strokes and what are the best ways to get them running in cold weather. Cheers in advance lads sure i will get some good advice.

            • Could be your glow plug.

I believe no 4 is a medium cold plug.

I always use Enya 3 (OS 8) which is a hot plug and never had a problem once the engine is running.

              Nice idle as well.

              Just my thoughts.

              Cheers

              • Hi Folks its that time of year when some self indulgence creeps up on ya, at this time of year you should stay away from model shops, but i just had to go and have a look at Steve webs shop in Frodsham and the fact there was shops for the good lady to shop at. enough said £££'s later me and the Lads came away with that warm glow that spending money can give you Ha Ha. its Christmas. But i got me one of those Blade MCX helicopters and 3 spare batts not put it down yet Binded it to my DX7 and off it went flew perfect out of the box even my 6 year old loves it and all for a mere £53. I would highly recommend one of these for flying round your Toilet let alone the living room. another winner from Eflite me thinks.
