I havnt even looked at it tbh grant. to much work and the car has cost a fortune but once the new main gear comes there is only the gyro to set up and the blades to balance then it should be good to go

I had my imitation 450 pro up at flying at the weekend. £45 quid airframe, £20 quid chinese KBar, a tenners worth of cyclic servos, £7 orange RX, 2nd hand Align ESC. In fact the only semi quality part is the DS520 on the tail.

And let me tell you it was excellent! Rock solid little Heli.

I maxed out all the "vbar" parameters, eyeballed the swash level, went +/- 13 degrees pitch and gave it a good old fashioned thrashing. Put 8 packs thru it, all pretty aggressive and it performed as well as any 450 I've ever flown.

Putting aside the moral argument about clones & clone components its now possible to throw together a rip roaring 3D heli for under £100 quid & that's a "cheap thrill" in anyone's book.

I'm with you all the way on that. I think some 'batches' are better than others to actually build; the 500CMT of mine compared to 500GT are evidence of that but it's flying on the cheap.
Helicopter pilots get it up quicker.

But now there is another problem the bottom gear that goes on the tail gear is only touching half way see the pic

is there anything I can do or will it be ok also I have dropped the motor pinion so it is only a mm above and set the mesh better

Looks a lot better does that mate.
Just one thing to note Mark, I see your rx is flashing away there in the video. That's means a loss of connection which will have been caused by...I bet you have unplugged the battery and kept your radio turned on and then plugged a battery back in again havn't you?
The reciever then sees this as it thinks that it's a power loss. Just make sure it isn't flashing like this when you go to fly it pal.

Now get the gyro set up and get out and fly it like mad and have fun!

                Cheers,
                Grant.

Save your money. Theres no point in pimping out a 450!

A Goblin yes, a Logo maybe, even a tex 700, they're like the super model from a swiss finishing school that you intend to marry on a beach at sunset, you treat her with respect and buy her diamonds and fur coats.
Your 450 on the other hand is the spit and sawdust barmaid with the bad highlights and the faggy breath thats up for anything in the back of a van, youre only ever going to buy her a gin and tonic and a ribbed tickler if she's lucky.

If there is one thing that is NAFF on clones it is blades. My 550 didn't come with them and I was well happy about that. The HK blades on the 500s were awfully out of balance.

Have to say I personally don't like that lack of contact. I've seen what happens to these gears when the tail catches but that aside it would simply bug me that it has ended up in a different position. So I ask why is that?? Was there a washer and it is in the wrong place now?? The main gear wasn't thicker I bet. It's looking ALL a lot lower.

Crikey yeah you're right there I hadn't viewed his picture properly, it looks as though the main gear will be rubbing on top of the tail drive gear by the looks of it there.

I'm guessing the washer between the two gears is now above the main gear OWB shaft. However, I had similar on a first time install as the OWB shaft lip was too thick but as this has been right once already then what can have changed. I defo would want nearly 100% contact of the pinion and gear.

                              I'm on tenterhooks.

I hate taking off the Jesus bolt on these - you need fingers like a worm.

Yeah doesn't help when, if you're like me and have thumbs like big toes lol! I reckon as you said before there should be a brass washer inbetween the main gear and tail gear, it goes over the one way bearing sleeve. If I remember correctly :/ or is it on top of the main gear? Can't bloody remember now lol
