no they won't be close. the n5 main gear is machined by looks of it so is in a different league to the 700 in that respect. i'd expect £20 ish for a main gear for the n5.

    cheers

The only actual reason for one plastic/metal part to be more expensive than another, is quality of material and tolerance or quality of manufacture. The only other variable that comes in is perceved brand quality and value. This is the area which people have a problem with.

But I think most people would be happy to pay more to own a synergy or a vibe because of the perceved extra quality of the product.
      All the best

i could show you two clutches from two suppliers..one big name one little band name..both exactly the same..if i put them together you cannot tell the difference..but one is 35 quid and the other is less than 15 quid....so paying for big brand qualitys isnt alway the case..just big prices

totally..i get ya..i have just looked at one part on a web site at £22.00 for a vibe 50 clutch bearing block which i used on my rjx 50 extreme(when rjx was out of stock)..then when the original part came which is the same no difference at all..but at less than a tenner in price
            brand quality..or brand name price
            we are being fooled

Spot on Tony, i agree with what you have said.
Only time will tell, it will be the 50 size to have soon but will the running costs take it away from the mainstream buyers and thats what align have got right, they make there money from high volume sales compared to the rest so can keep costs down, they took a risk and won, all depends if synergy are aiming at a high volume kit sales or not.
I personally am now more interested on how a machine performs rather than costs but there is a limit, i wouldn't go swap my trex 700 for an avant, but a 50 size is alot lower cost in comparison so the impact would be less.

For sure price is a critical area for any product, Align have rightly had a huge influence on the market by bringing fresh capable designs to the market at very competitive prices.

However, whilst there will no doubt be a heavy focus on price comparisons, I am always drawn to the conclusion that price differentials when taken as a percentage of the total 'in the air' cost become dramatically smaller. The high cost of ancilliary equipment - (JR and other digital servos etc) and in some instances even exhausts can be over half the price of a kit - this really can put a different perspective on costs.

I think the key will be ensuring that the N5 delivers value, and that customers enjoy flying and owning the model. After all, this is our hobby, and we all place different emphasis on different aspects of a model's appeal. If you generally throw your model in the deck every weekend then a Synergy N9 or Vibe 90 etc is not going to be a credit crunch beater.

Models tend to find their natural place in the market, obviously we hope it will appeal to lots of you, but either way it is exciting to have a new model hitting the flying fields (oops!) and I'm grateful to Matt B for being so frank about his new toy on RCH.

As far as past helicopters being able to accept 620mm blades.... yes this is true. However, the overall size of the rotor disk is what I am talking about. This includes the size of the head block along with the blade grip bolt hole spacing. Put 620's on the N5 compared to any other helicopter with 620's and the rotor disk will be larger.

                              Sincerely,

                              Matt
