Have caught up with this thread this morning, must agree with previous posts regarding Matts decision to visit the site and post. Top man, it is good to get ground level input and posts on a new product like this.

Brian, just Reading that it seems funny how all of the old .60 sized machines were either shelved or updated to .90's and all of the old .30 size stuff was either shelved or updated to a .50. It seems from what Matt was saying that we're not far off a .60 again. Except the airframe itself is very loosely derived from an old .30

That said I'm looking forward to seeing one (sorry Matt, I'll not be buying one unless I can strap lipo's to it)

I'm quite looking forward to seeing this, the current Synergy n9 flies very well and I'm sure this will follow suit. As per andylinney's comment I will be needing to strap lipos to it which looks possible from the photos (with a few mods). I'm glad you've gone with a single stage belt drive, although I haven't changed a set of tail gears on my 600e for about 6-7 months the TT always forces me to fly higher than I should be flying and takes the fun out of it.

            Yes Andy weve seen 30 class go..Os 28/32/37/40/50/50 Hyper.Next 55-57?

IMHO 50 size has evolved into its own distinct class to the point its not worth any backwards compatibility to 30 size...

This IMHO leaves room for someone to re-invent the wheel with a fresh sheet of paper and produce a genuine 30 class performance machine somewhere around 500-550 blades

The N5 is defo sized to make best use of the newer generation motors and look forward to this progression as I love 50 class helis.

Same here Barney, running a os55 etc and 620 blades on the N5 should make it an excellent machine for set manovers and alot cheeper alternative than having to run a 90 size to achieve this, would love to run a 50 size in comps if i ever get there.

Some spesc I came across for the N5

120 degree push/pull control system w/ single axis bell crank shaft
                Main Gear Ratio - 8.5:1
                Tail Gear Ratio - 4.66:1
Main Rotor Diameter: 1355mm (600mm main blades)
                Tail Rotor: 245mm
Programmable Rotor Head will suit pilots from beginner to competition
                Collective Pitch Range +/-14.5 Degrees
Pinch style CNC fan hub for easy "no dial" installation
Heavy duty tail hub design with dual radial AND thrust bearings on each tail blade grip
10mm hollow main shaft / 8mm solid head axle
                425cc (14.5 ounce) Fuel Tank
Designed with ease of maintenance and setup in mind
Modular servo and radio trays allow for very clean radio installation

Comparing a 600 for length its around 1.5 " longer at rear and 1" at front, according to another post

                  Clutch

I must also clarify that the clutch stack is NOT like the N9 at all. The start shaft is no longer pressed into the clutch. The is no more dial indicating anything on the N5.
The clutch itself is also a reverse spring action clutch which seems to be working very well. Here is a pic.

i'm glad it's not like the N9. after owning a pair of N9's for a while i can honestly say dialing them is THE worst thing about them by quite a margin. i had a couple of initial kits so it was extremely hit/miss if you could dial it or not.

                    cheers

That is one thing i disliked about the N9, could never seem to get the engine mounted 100% perfect to get rid of all the vibes no matter how hard i tried, this sounds like a better simpilar method.
Will there be a V2 version of the N9 that will pick up some of these ideas Matt, surely that will be the next thing to keep synergy in the game in comps, noticed it at last years masters, there were no way as many N9's as the year before

                        More things

I would love to redesign the N9 and incorporate some of the improvements I have made with the N5. I will make that recommendation to our factory!

Another question someone had was about the finished anodize color of the head. I am keeping it silver and only putting on a hard coat anodization. I never really liked the look of all black metal parts, I think it cheapens the look of metal parts unless you return them for highlights.

                        Sincerely,

                        Matt

I concur. Its a good system.

Matt concerning the one way bearing, clutch, and start shaft.

The Align Idea of increasing the dia of the bottom of the start shaft works very well preventing slipping and pre-mature bearing failures, has this been incorporated into the design?

                          Thanks Brian

The sweetest looking N9 I've ever seen is

                            V-bar system - Shuglu's one....

Already told him off for making me want another one.....it will eventually sit beside the N5....

Though the N9 had its teething issues like all - JR / Mini-Air / Align etc etc... a V2 version of the N9 will be well recieved I suspect.
                            Cheers

Nice one Matt, thanks for keeping us informed.
One more thing, when are we likely to see this in the shops? i know it is a how long is a piece of string question but to give us a rough idea, are kits being put together at the moment? how far is the canopy off as i suppose this could hold the kits up.
Nice idea with the silver parts, stand out like the se parts on the n9

Videos - I have one video of flight # 15 but I was hesitant to post it because I was still only flying at about 75% intensity. I will probably shoot another one here soon with 110%.
                                Matt, 75% intensity is fine..........

Nice looking machine, my YS50 is already climbing the walls at home!!!!
