    • no its a twin rotor
      a pod and boom vertol

has the box got a slot in it like the quick uk metal shuttle one to allow it to clamp the boom?
or is it two half just clamped together
if the later then its a poor design

      • To sort the possible failier in the tailbox of any heli, new moddle just released, old mod tested by whoever or not i would allways put a grubscrew in the tailbox if the manufacturers have not for some reason done so as standerd, i seem to remember 600&700 aligns had no way to lock the boom off to the boxes untill a few came off! imo just clamp'd don't cut it!

        • And that is with the tail box fully clamped and it cant go any tighter. My boom is not dented either. It is a poor design end off. Even the 90 suffers the same fate. Why should one pin the boom if if is not designed that way. Luckily with the knowledge on the forums owners are pre-warned of the short comings of Outrage products and MODIFY it accordingly. Can't help but feel sorry for those that never frequent the forums and had crashed Outrage models because of a failure due the model's design.

the 90 box can't spin, there is 4 bolts going through it and 1 clamping it for good measure.

            cheers

Vouch for that - its properly locked into place - I noticed that against the v50 similar to the n9 format.

.. or just pre-warned and not buying it at all.

Plenty of good choices out there so why buy something that is flawed right out of the box ...

                  • My bad, I just assumed it is the same design after I seen a tail box on a 90 flew through the air.

Still if I was new to this hobby I would had to go buy a dremel so I could pin the boom. I do that on my models for good measure anyways but why should we? It is a safety critical aspect of the heli. Why can't manufactures listen to our criticism and bring a upgrade out? Or is it because only a few of us complain so surely there is no problem?!

you know what they say about assumptions! doh :-)

anyway-to answer your other points if i may-

                      1. given the amount of outrage vels/fusions are out there i would happily have a well educated guess that less than 1% have tail box issues like this. (i'm not saying this is acceptable-just facts on the best info i have to my hand)
                      2. you don't need a dremel to pin a boom-i drilled a hole in my fusion with a 2.5mm drill bit and used the bolt to thread the hole. i promise you it took about 2 mins of my time to do so.

now with that said i will also say this as my personal opinion, i have said since day numero uno-i would like to see the tails pinned myself. align learned this the hard way as well remember with the same issue and outrage are going to do the same it seems. i can promise you this-all this info has been fed back to outrage from the UK/myself and they ARE looking at it. what the outcome will be i don't know but if i'm told anything i'll let everyone know.

in the mean time to get flying i can only suggest if your concerned to pin the boom for peace of mind and go fly. if you feel the need to pin it i promise you if you spend that 2 mins drilling for a pin it will be rewarded 10 fold when you fly it.

to end i will say again-i'm not condoning boxes spinning-i understand the comments perfectly well.

                      cheers

                      • Thanks, well I'm happy if Outrage is looking at the problem. This is the type of feedback that we want to hear from manufactures!

                        • Agreed.

                          Good to know.

I really really want to fly this heli. Saying I have spent a small fortune on it is an understament by the time you add up all the gear (servos etc) and the new batts I had to buy for it you are talking in the region £1300 so thats why I get jiust a little miffed by this bloody little £20 if that part

Anyway hopefully Outrage will do something soon and I will be flying

I totally agree, their contribution is the only reason I've persevered with this model, the problems lie further up the chain.
I'm still short of a bell crank, damaged through no fault of my own, it's been a month now and Outrage still haven't even managed to put one in the post!
