This may be an over-simplistic view but in a case like this where there appears to be an acknowledged design fault then I'd be expecting a new tail-box and boom to be provided on request to previous customers.
It is most certainly not reasonable to expect customers to make design modifications to existing parts. Similarly if it is so blindingly obvious to some that it needed doing during the build, why wasn't it equally obvious to the presumably more qualified designers during the creation of the kit in the first place? If they elect to ship a kit with an unpinned boom it is not unreasonable depend on the knowledge of the designers and build it that way.

Im sure I heard before that Outrage did give out free parts with all the issues the first Velo had but so many first Velo users tell me that is not the case so I dont think we will see them FOC even though its only a small number that have had this issue.
I will wait and see and a new boom will defo be needed by looking at the pic Paul posted unless you are prepared to DIY.
Which Im not cos I garantee it will not be straight if I do it

Outrage has not yet made an official announcement to its distributors regarding the availability of a new gearbox and if replacements will be provided free of charge to all customers.
For warranty claims the defective part needs to be returned to us as we need to return it to Outrage to receive our replacements. In turn Outrage forward them to their manufacturing subcontractors for QC purposes and to receive their replacements.

I finally got a reply from Outrage last night
Apparently they understand my frustration and have told me how to pin the boom!!!!
Thanks for that
Oh, and they are not planning on recalling or replacing any tail cases!!!!!!!!!!!! So they can stick it up there ass, that is also simple
Here is the actual reply
"Ben, I am sorry to hear about your troubles. Although pinning the tail case is very easy and can be accomplished in 10 minutes or so.
Soon there should be a video on the Outrage Blog showing how to pin the tail...future kits will come with the extra bolt and the hole will be drilled already in the tail case...but Outrage is not panning on recalling or replacing any tail cases since the fix is such a simple task.
The best way to pin the tail is to get the boom assy put together and installed correctly and lined up on the heli...then looking down at the top of the tail case drill and tap a hole down through the tail case and into the boom (it might be easier to leave the TT shaft out of the Boom so you don't accidentally drill into the shaft)...after you drill and tap the tail case...just loctite a short 3mm bolt into the tail case and boom. I used a servo horn screw on mine...I did my Fusion 50 and 5 of my flying buddies at the field in less than 30 minutes.
Yes you can be upset and not flying your Fusion 50...or you can take the 10 minutes to do the fix yourself and go out and enjoy the Fusion...this is up to you...only you can make that decision...I am the type of person that would rather just do it myself real quick...be done with it and off to the flying field!
This issue is a hit an miss...I believe it has something to do with small variations in the boom OD. I have not had any issue with either of my Fusions...each with over 100 flights each on them...I ended up pinning my tail case only because a friends twisted at the field...so we decided to just pin everyones right then and there instead of taking a chance."

Well not exactly the reply you wanted Ben,
However maybe you should try to turn this in to somthing good and oclose the thread with an explination of how to pin the tailbox with a few pictures ????
That would at least help future users.
Just an Idea and a little more use than the upsetting situation you have found in outrages reply.

But didn't they replace all the crash damaged parts free of charge? How is that a perfect example of why you shouldn't buy an Outrage? I've never heard of Align offering to replace parts in a situation like that. Personally, I don't know why you wouldn't just spend 5-10 minutes pinning the boom and be done with it like the Outrage guy said in his email.Originally posted by rcslopesurfer View PostHmmmm this is a perfect thread of why you shouldnt buy an outrage helicopter. Seems to be another example of manufacturers in our hobby happy to ship flawed designs then duck their responsibilities.
It is not reasonable to expect people to modify their kits to correct design errors and we really shouldn't keep accepting this type of behaviour.
They may not be alone in doing it, but it really doesn't make it any better.

Thats the point Kel, why is it accepted??
Its just unfortunate that it happened to happen to me with an Outrage. If it was any other brand I would still be doing this and have done in the past and will do again.
I had a heli go down on its first flight with a set of Torsion tail blades cos they came apart at the root ages ago. Contacted the retailer and was told they would replace them straight away but then was also advised to contact Torsion direct as it caused a fair bit of damage to my heli but also to let them know off the issue, inc blade iirc it was about £120 worth of damage.
So what did Torsion do, well they would not do anything with the heli but they set me a complete set, mains, tails and paddles for my 700 as compensation.
Now that is customer service!!!
And everyone knows Robbe dont even do customer service, why? cos we muppets accept it and they know it will not make a damn bit of difference to their sales! SIMPLE
