Anyhow, here's my settings direct from the ESC connected to my pc.

Most of the settings look ok to me accept the already mentioned motor settings BUT i'd really recommend you try this:

In the gov tab, try using LOW or HIGH Governor instead of the "Set rpm" governor..

We had a heli at our club cutting out just the same as yours, we thought it was hitting a current limiter but by using High Governor instead of set rpm the problem disappeared. Castle were emailed about it asking for an explanation but we never got one.. go figure.

Just try it, its only a few minutes of changing settings and pitch curves

Headspeed seemed to be normal and was spinning fine with no delays.. I tend to get my throttle stick up to neutral as soon as I disable Throttle Hold when I spool up so I have 0 pitch as I don't like sucking dirt from the ground when I spool up due to the negative pitch of the blades

Ok thanks. I'll try that. I'll have to read up on it as I don't know how to control headspeed on that setting but I'll try that next time. Hopefully this weekend if not too wet!

Its controlled in much the same way but I think the esc uses a different algorithm or something.. as I say the "Set-rpm" mode just wasnt working and kept cutting out like yours on pitch pumps. Changed it to "Governor High" and worked fine.

If you hover the mouse over the "?" icons it gives you clues..

Been watching the raw video of last night's flight and right after my pitch pump, there's a slight high pitch whirling sound (I'm guessing it's the motor) and right before I hit ground, about a foot off, is when I clicked Throttle hold and you can hear the motor spinning down...
So do you think maybe Ice could be correct that the motor's still spinning and it's really my OWB slipping?

If you look at this log of my RPM - does this show my motor overspeeding? I don't really know how to read it.

I'm out! Bit over my head, only thing I can see is 'hard cut off' I dunno about ampage wattage voltage settings, only that whatever you have set, motor cut out. Have you set motor kv, pinion tooth, main gear tooth ratio etc I take it these readings are esc readings, does this esc have bec also? Do you have separate BEC? Is it all in one or is there separate bec? Just binged it, has CC ice bec got the balls to run 700 size servo etc? How many batts have you got? Have you got dud cell on a batt that will initiate cut off? Could you list electronic parts, is it standard kit? I take it no if you CC Ice

That noise can sometimes be the governor gain being to high.. we call it chirping, it could also be a mechanical thing like the owb too!

In the castle logs screen you need to tell it how many poles the motor has in the settings for it to give a proper rpm readout. atm its saying you have 100 rpm headspeed lol

Main thing flashing up, it says 2 pole motor? What motor do you have in there? As I may have mentioned, could you list all your bits so peeps know what could be problem. All the log sheets are nice, but what bits are you running to create the logs? Also what pitch, throttle curve you using?

Haha. I thought the log would be based on the settings i have given it on the main pages.. I did notice that 2 pole line on that log. How do I change it?
                      Regarding the heli,
it's a standard Trex 700e DFC HV with standard electronics apart from my tail servo.
                      3x Align standard HV servos
                      1x Outrage hv tail servo
                      750mx motor
Vbar mini pro 5.3 (I believe)
                      Castle Ice2 120 HV esc
                      6000mah 2s rx battery

                      i'm using Turnigy 6s 5000 40c batteries

                      Throttle Curve is set to:
                      N: 0-30-30-30-30
                      i1: 70-70-70-70-70
                      i2: 100-100-100-100-100

Can't remember what my pitch setting is but around 11 +- probably

I would lower the gov gain to 15 too mate.

On the first page of phoenix settings just over half way down there is a 'motor and gearing' tab. Your throttle curve for normal seems strange. I use normal for getting off the ground, then switch to idle for flying. Can you get off ground with 30% throttle? I'd change it to 0-50-70-80-90 or similar (I left mine 0-100) What mode are you flying in? Judging by how heli flew it can't be 30%?

Castle governor works this way if he chose set rpm on the governor tab. 30% is read by the controller and will try to attain the desired headspeed inputted. The only way he could alter the numbers for throttle is he chose the governor high or governor low on the governor tab on the castle software.

Ok - Finally managed to get some time to pull the One Way bearing out last night and have a look. What do you guys think?
Oh, one of the screws' thread is messed up - the screw was just spinning with no bite (don't know what the proper term for it?) - Will this be a major concern?
And with all the screws loose, I managed to spin the One Way Bearing the other way...
