It did work for a bit on spoolup. Something must have happened. Could this be the well known screw problem. The mounting screw length and the width of the mounting plate have to be just right. Too much screwing often cuts into the wire going to the motor and connects it to the screw. So motor gets screwed and then esc gets screwed which then screws the motor a bit more. It could be a simple mechanical design problem, not electronic at all. What Steve and Vikki said sounds good. Learning how to check things with a cheap meter saves a lot of money in the end.

Did spool up last night with no pinion a few times and it was fine,i have reprogrammed the esc and put it all back together,all seems to be working again now

Different ball game, besides there all piles of poo too. Take a look at the hard facts here, you purchased a new align Heli combo, and before your airborne it's failed. Take the electrics out, replace and fly.

At least if you buy a combo that doesn't work you don't have to worry about which manufacturer is to blame.

Do check that the motor mounting screw isn't nearly touching a wire. There is something very wrong with what you have at the moment. It might go again with extra mechanical load or vibration. These things can be checked without destroying other bits. Lipos and escs destroy themselves very easily.

If you have a linear BEC it will fail with your setup as soon as start to load the servos by pulling collective.

Perhaps Nick is hinting that to save money you bought second hand servos and a second hand motor ... neither of which worked ... maybe?

Motor worked actually. It was a damaged heli jive from the crash causing the initial problems! As for the servos, again they worked only not powerful enough, no danger of catching fire, letting out magic smoke like in this case. Again, testament to buying quality gear. Had that been a cc or align esc then I'm 100% sure I'd be into a lot of pain right now. You boys can try as hard as you like to justify it, you just can't deny the simple equation

Buy cheap = buy twice!
