Well, thanks to your advice I've done a tad more this evening. Built the tail drive gearboxes both ends of the boom, part-assembled the tail pitch slider and fitted that.

Was gonna do the tail rotor hub build but, having had a pint of cider and half a bottle of wine, I think it unwise (I'm a lightweight I know, but a very cheap date. Hence if there's any hotties reading this, My number is....)

Build question: I'm finding that, when nipping up the link arms on the tail pitch slider to the metal tail rotor blade grips, they lock up almost solid and make the whole tail pitch slider very stiff to operate. Anyone else found this and, if so, how did you get over it?

I loctited the screws in the grips without the pitch slider first, let the loctite set overnight then refitted it all properly the next day.
The 'gone-off' loctite in the grips then allowed me to back off the screws abit without fear of them shaking themselves loose in flight.
Done this on all my helis with no probs.

            Thanks Tony!

It took me an age to get this as smooth as it needs to be. I also sanded a gnats tadger off of each side of the links. The brass bushings, being 4mm thick, still had threads inside them, thus causing the link to bind on the grip.

It now runs pretty smoothly and, in the morning, I'll back the fasteners off a smidgeon as you suggested Tony.

I can't tell from those pics Martin, but one thing worth doing is to replace the pivot bolt of the tail control arm with a longer one, so's you can put a nyloc nut the other side of the mount.

..and replace the tail blade grip bolts with stronger ones whilst adding the extra bearing.

Rob made a post about it a while ago.

                  Here you go Mart:http://www.rcheliaddict.co.uk/align-...-tail-mod.html

Also, when you assemble the tail to the boom with the vertical fin attached, look down the boom from the tail towards the frame and see if it is twisted. I know of a few people, including me, that found the hole that centres the tail on the boom is not in line with the slot at the front of the boom. I needed to elongate the hole in one direction so I could get the tail ass. vertical with the frame sides.

Well, having returned from my travels, I've done a bit more on the 700 build tonight. Got the tail boom, supports and horizontal stab installed.

Tis actually now resembling a heli!

Thanks Tony. And no, I didn't forget. They are just out of sight, one pushed to the far back of the tail, two forward of the ali boom support collar.

Mind you, wouldn't have been the first time I'd forgotten if I had of done.

Think it's the light, Chris. The kit does come with two booms tho - one with a CF finish and one with straight black ali.

I fitted the CF finish one.

Following a couple of hours effort I have now pretty much completed the airframe build. Next step is to install the servos and get the head set up:
