I've now lacquered the painted tail end and stab.Took off all the masking.
There is some bleed but it doesn't look to bad.
I will lightly sand the stab before putting on a final coat of lacquer.
Also lacquered the main cabin but it will need 2 or 3 coats before finishing.

Well after a break of over a year and selling up I've decided to start again with Heli's (it's always in your blood).
I packed it all in when I got scammed on the BMFA site trying to buy a Hirobo Lama.Any way it's time to start again.
I sold my Vario Bell 47G2 benzin in a nearly finished state so this thread will not be carrying on that build.
As I said I'm starting from scratch again and I've just managed to get a Futaba T10J tx and I've just secured a Vario Bell 47 G2 with Skyfox mechanics so will be carrying on this thread with that when I pick it up next week.
It has a mainly silver colour scheme at the moment but I am leaning to an Army theme,so wouldn't mind any hi rez pics that you may have.

Welcome back😊 Did not know you were after a Lama I would have considered a part ex for your Bell. I kept watching it but could not justify the expense. Will you be going to any of the scale events this year (Red Lodge 5th June, Road Farm 26th June)?

          Cheers Sheldrake.
At the time I just wanted to pack it all in so just put everything up for sale.
Unluckily I work nearly every weekend but I am going to try and get to at least one scale event this year, but they always seem to be miles away.
Fingers crossed though for this year.

I will just mention, the thing about army colours if you do green or camo, is that those are about the least visible colours. I took pics and video of a scale event some years ago and the green and camo schemes just all but disappeared against the green treeline in the background. The pics of helis in other colours sure look a lot better.

The army colours look kinda cool on the ground but really don't in the air.

Welcome back, sorry to hear you was scammed, Cheshire hellecats use to do two scale day events one held in May and the other in Oct but they lost the field last year, so the Oct event didn't happen, I've not heard nothing this year whether it's on or not, so watch this space.

I'll make a final decision when I pick it up next week.I might just do a strip and clean with new electrics as it's on 35mhz with old Futaba servo's.
I also may need to order a new engine cooling duct as the one it has looks a bit tired from the pics I've seen.

Also I'm new to Futaba radio's,can you use any servo's with them or do they have to be Futaba ?

                Another quick question.
Is there such thing as a four stroke 91 heli engine?

                Thanks

Yeah you can use any servos you want.

I'm not aware of a .91 fourstroke but there have been several helis over the years using adapted fourstroke aero engines. I have a Laser 150 with all the fittings to mount it into a Robbe Futura but the project stalled when I just lost interest.

The thing about a four stroke is they won't produce as much power as a two stroke for the same displacement, so you need a bigger engine.

It was just there is an advert on fleabay for a Vario Bell 47g with a OS 91 Four stroke so I thought it would sound really good. But thinking about it it could be an aero engine as the cooling on Skyfox mechanics looks quite impressive.

the 91 four stroke will not be powerfull enough
vario did a boxer twin conversion using an os120 but the os160 twin was a better motor to use
as the 120 was under powered

I am now in possession of my Vario Bell 47G with Skyfox mechs and in the process of stripping it down.
I'm currently a bit stuck on how to get the wire tail drive either out of the tail gearbox or out of the main mechanics.
I can't see into the main mechs as the engine shroud is one piece (unlike the later versions which are in about 5 separate pieces).
I was wondering if anyone has a very early Skyfox build manual I could buy or borrow or any links.
I can take and send pics if that helps.
                          Thanks

I suppose Mr Payne should be able to answer my next question.
What motor and ESC would he recommend for my Bell 47g2.
Also as an update to my previous post I've tried heating up the rear bevelled gear on the tail rotor end and can't get that off so I think I will have to cut the wire drive and order a new one.
Any suggestions before I do ??
                            Thanks

Right then,I have managed to get the wire drive out of the main mechanics without having to butcher it.
All I need to do now is to disassemble the rest of the mechanics (servo's,engine etc)until down to the bare parts.
A really good clean up and wait until I can get an electric conversion for it.
A few pics below to show where I'm up to

Looking closer at the main frame and mechanics I'm not sure if they are Skyfox.
Looking at the frames on Vario's website they look nothing like each other.
                                Any idea's Mr Payne.
