It looks like part of the Skyfox, without the rear bit where the boom would go on the pod and boom version, but the gears and engine mount look similar.
Do you know what the overall gear ratio is?
My guess for a motor / ESC would be something like the Scorpion 5025 or Align 800 motor and a 160 amp 12s ESC. But how to mount a motor when you have the frames so close (due to the small ish 1st stage gear) might be tricky. It might be possible to put a larger gear on there or replace it with a pulley, the idea being to allow more space to mount the motor.

yes you have a skyfox mechanic set
but it is the very early drop in mechanics so don't butcher the main frames
in my opinion this is the better vario 47 as the laer one uses the bottom mount skyfox mechanics and the main frame
goes into the cabin area
on the motor it all depends on what gear ratio you have in the mechanic set as vario did the skyfox with different ratio
once you know the ratio contact john white at vario uk as he will know the best motor/esc combo

Thanks Sheryl,I had already emailed Rainer last week and they are quoting around 160 euro's.
Bit more than I wanted to spend but looking at their workmanship I might just bite the bullit.
I emailed again last night with a picture of the frames for a more accurate quote, so waiting on reply.
I'm not sure whether to run on 10 or 12s,the Xnova motors look quite good value new so I would have thought even better used.
Would I need a 160 amp ESC or would I get away with a 120 amp ?
I've also looked on Vario UK's website and can't really find any part conversion only the full Skyfox Electric mechs or just a motor mount.

Yeah you could probably get something made up cheaper that would do the job. Just use something like a Trex 700 motor mount and have someone fabricate the side pieces out of ali or carbon sheet. Then it's just a matter of getting a suitable main gear and pinion. But their's does look nice.
If you're going to run at low ish headspeeds, and really you probably only need 1200-1300 or so and could even go lower (I'm assuming the blades are around 800mm ? ), then 120 amp ESC should be enough on 12s.

Blades are currently 700mm and I would be looking at a fairly low head speed.
As I don't have access or know anyone that could fabricate frames etc I will have to buy a complete set.
I will wait and get a price from hobbyheli in Germany and probably place an order with them.
Thanks

OK, so it's a bit smaller than the Hirobo or the petrol Vario. That's cool. In that case you'll be fine with a motor around the size of the Scorpion 4035, Pyro 700 or Align 700mx and a 120 amp ESC will be plenty.
My TDR is even running on a Jive 80HV and works great, partly due to being very light and also that I'm running at under 1300 most of the time.

I have managed to secure a Scorpion 4235-520KV Nick Maxwell motor and a CC Edge 120HV ESC and will be running 12S
I am going to use three Spektrum H6040 servo's on Cyclic and a MKS DS760 on the tail.
Everything is pretty much stripped down apart from the main rotor as I'm leaving that alone as it looks fine and there is no slop or play in it.
It seems that no-one wants to sell me a electric conversion as I've emailed the company in Germany and Vario UK and had no response from either.
I'll send another couple of emails and see if I get a reply.
Still undecided on a colour scheme might go Orange and White again.I'm still looking for a local powder coating company to do the trellis boom and undercarriage.
Also could anyone point me in the direction of dials etc for my cockpit as the standard Vario stickers look a bit crap.I'm going to also cover the seats in a brown leatherette vinyl as I think the red seats look awful.
Any suggestions on what material I could use to line the interior of the cockpit ?
My scale undercarriage has also just arrived and I think it looks a lot better than the standard one.
I've used Aerocockpit.com for the instruments based in the Czech Republic, used them a few times with no problem, you could use self adhesive acrylic felt for your interior, you can buy it from ebay.

I see yours is the G3 which is quarter scale,my G2 is 1/6 scale and there doesn't seem to be much about for 1/6 scale.
I've had a look on Aerocockpit and the dials etc look really good.
I will order a couple of sets from them but couldn't find any harnesses etc for 1/6 scale.
Seat wise, the ones in my heli are cyno'd in and I don't really want to damage the base and back of the cockpit cutting them out.
I never really thought of blue but I've ordered the covering now so I'll try it in brown leather for now.
I think I'll try the black felt for the intereior.
Thanks

Premier pilots from the States, there is also closer to home Tailored pilots from Birmingham which are excellent aswell. I've always rang John White (vario uk) if I need any information, had no problem in getting through.
