time will tell, buy once buy quality not crap.

Lots peeps enjoying align kits. Yes they are not tdr`s but you fly what you can afford. Why should I fly an expensive heli if the only thing I will be thinking is how will afford it if it goes in? Where is the fun in that?

Never said you had to fly expensive helis, tdr etc, but for the money you can buy a lot better than the new eflite 550, as i said you WILL have to spend a lot of money on upgrades just to get it to fly half decent, then theres the spares issue, they still aint got the previous model spare sorted yet.

No you right, it is expensive but it seems like a half desent heli.

You right Martin. I love my 600n. It's a plessure when I hit the tera firma as I still got spare parts from my last order. Good things come in two's....lol.

To much plastic Ross . Take a look at your Logos mate & they seem to fly pretty well , just jesting. This 550x looks like i ts all alloy & carbon so maybe blade are trying to up there game . Its just the spares availability that would put me of .

Exactly guys. If eflight can charge £8.49 for tiny plastic 130x tail blade grips then I shudder to think how much parts will cost for this, probably cheaper to own a tdr. Hell, you will most likely get parts quicker from tdr and he makes them himself.

I wondered how long before someone would pick up on my comment regarding plastic, it was a joke, but lets just wait and see, I can't even think of reading about any one buying the elite blade 500, maybe some have.

And Martin you moaned about every heli you ever owned, never have you said a good thing about Align heli's, only your new 500 but that ain't that old I'm sure your find problems with that as well and sell them lol.

quality doesnt mean loads of carbon and alloy, the logos work well and i would say are some of the most reliable helis out there, same with my blade 450x, mine is bullet proof, and thats all plastic too.
I am an align fanboy, always have been, but there do have there odd issues, what Blade want to make sure is they dont let there 550 go to market with issues, it will back fire, align seem to be the only company to get away with this.
I am still keen to see what this heli is like, but i am reserving judgement and hoping it will be a good one like my 450 is

Chill fellas i was only jokin i would never mock ur Logos i know you love em hence my winking smily . You did ask for that one though Ross It will be interesting to see how Blade get on trying to enter the higher end of the market . Will we just be beta testers again , as we certainly have with some of there helis .

I hope the general public dont become beta testers, otherwise i think that will be a big issue, i am sort of hoping this is why the blade 500x is not out yet, maybe it had issues and so blade have not launched it untill they are fixed, in my eyes is the right decision, am just guessing mind

Never hear me moan about my 550, yet!!! but yes the 600n's & 700'ns always let me down with their weak clutch stack.
Guess what's up with my 600 LE at the moment? Yup clutch has gone yet again & even at tick over it will take your arm off but it's to cold for me to be out flying anyway so lots of time to replace it over Xmas.

I agree with that, look at all the heli's they've brought out this year, 450X 300X 130X NanoCPx 5003D and 500X now a 550X (correct me if I'm wrong but I think all those heli's came out this year?).

I personally think they've taken on too much this year and don't have the man power (or potentially) the money to keep the spares available.

I think the 550X seem interesting, but like said already, I think they would be better off sticking to the micro size heli market, developing these heli's and making them much more capable. Can't see Blade breaking into the 'BIG' heli size market as they're best known for producing micro heli's.

Arguably, they've only announced the 500x and 550x. The 550x is certainly a 2013 model and it looks like the 500x might be too. I thought the 450x was late 2011? which means they've brought out the 130x, 500-3D and nano cPX (not sure about the 300x) in 2012. That's not too bad. It seems to me that the RC Heli market is becoming a bit like computers - ie. blink and you'll miss the latest/greatest thing. The manufacturers are all trying to keep up with rapidly accelerating change and innovation. If they don't, chances are they'll be ignored for being behind the times.

It's a double edged sword though, move too quickly, and you risk low quality control and frustrating your user base. Nobody wants their newly purchased heli to be old news just after they've bought it!
