Maybe you should have kept your 130x and practiced more nose in hovering then maybe, just maybe you would not have stoved your 7hv into the ground while flying nose in?

Oh and sorry nearly forgot lol.

      What can I say?

Its a Blade, they are trying to break into the 'real' 'pro' heli's. They will either make it or not. We will see but so far all I have seen is marketing which makes it look awesome

Ross. That wasn't driving it into the ground, that was preventive maintenance, smash it up then replace the parts.

I actually think that it is a good move for Blade to move up to the next level, the 550 looks awesome.
I am a big fan of blade helis, they do exactly what they say on the tin, my 450x is still an excellent machine.
I have flown Harrys 500X, and it is quite good, on par with a trex, for performance the trex might just edge it, what i think they should do is offer it in a cheaper kit option, then it would easy undercut aligns pricing.
The 550X is one i would love to try in the future, and with Ashley my son having the trex it is an ideal size heli, big enough to do comp flying but no intimidating like some bigger helis.
One thing you can rely on though, is horizon will continue its supperb customer service that will support there products

I personally think these if are proved to be a good heli will challenge align's 550, the trex 550 with the 3gx is around £680 new for the super combo thats the latest kit from fast lads, if this is under £650ish with the ar7200bx which leaves the 3gx standing it aint a bad buy . Its all metal/carbon bits so the quality is a big step up, time will tell...

They obviously have quite a big team working on helis,
to attract them & keep them interested they were always going to give them the chance to design bigger machines.

Now the question is how good a job of it have they done,
I am waiting for the Youtube/podcast where they will explain thier design goals.

Stylistically I am not convinced though!

                    Tim.

But then find my later post that shows the US website showing £1499 reduced down to $999 US dollars.

That's about £620, which is cheaper than a SuperCombo Trex550V2.

You forgot to add VAT. Also, US prices never translate to UK ones simply by exchange rate - it seems that either he cost of business is higher, or the market is less competitive.

However, we don't know what the price will be after a year, when this model has "settled" on the market. It might well be around the figure you give (with VAT, which would correspond to ~ 800USD without tax). Right now the price includes "novelty premium" of unknown value.

PS. I also dislike fancy canopy. But other bits seem perfectly fine. I guess one test of popularity of this model will be availability of 3rd party canopies.

Building and setting up is half the fun for me. No way am I going to pay more to have it pre built, especially when you're just going to tear it down to check threadlock etc anyway.

good point, well made! You're right - Apple has proved ad infinitum the discrepancy between US and UK prices!

I quite like the canopy design! It's different and stylish in my view. Blades' first fibreglass attempt too! I'm sure Fusuno will be on it pretty quick though if it's not to your taste.

OK, looking at US prices, the Align T-REX 550E V2 3GX SUPER COMBO

from Align is around the ~$800 mark. So cheaper than the 550X combo !

Here's hoping the 550X actually becomes available at a competitive price. Even if you don't like Blade, it'll force Align to drop their prices!
