I basically start all over every year because I just don't get to fly in the winter. The only way I'd get any better is if I relocate somewhere with more hours of sunlight.Originally posted by p4ddy View PostI wouldn't get to fly anywhere near the amount of time I used to so my skills wouldn't get any better. I thought it was jus me. I'm lucky if I fly from April to October. I went out yesterday but the field was that wet that after 1 flight I started sinking into the mud!Originally posted by trillian View PostI basically start all over every year because I just don't get to fly in the winter. I try to fly through the winter, but the last 3 years have been terrible weather wise. Nothing but rain all winter.
Last year I didn't fly from the beginning of November until the end of February. This season, I haven't flown since mid October, and the field's been waterlogged since September.
What I want is a cold day, below zero (so the ground is hard), where there's bright sun, and little wind. It's not a lot to ask.Current fleet: Goblin Thunder Sport (700), Trex 700L, Logo 600, Specter 700, Henseleit TDR, V-Baaa control.
Next heli: I have pretty much everything I want. Maybe I'll upgrade some electronics or something.

Yeah, wind and rain has been the story down here, from winter 2018 and through a lot of last year. In 2018 it was at least compensated for, by a short but consistent run of dry summer weather, but no such luck in 2019 (although, perversely, there was a day or two that were actually too hot
).

This is what I've had down here the last three days. Already dark at 4 in the afternoon! The new NHPs, with a stylish lime green stripe.

Smart canopy.
We had a good new year's day at MK which, for a change, was not sunny. It was dull and overcast but the great thing is that it was dry and there was absolutely no wind. I had five helicopter flights and four with my foamy (plank).
Seven club members turned up and a jolly good time was had.Tron 7.0 advance Vbar evo V Control

Three chilly flights with my Trex 550, making good progress though despite the cold and high winds!
I think I must be one of the few that loves a windy day!
Also tested the Neo EGov, it was flawless, held RPM perfectly

Got a couple of flights in most days recently - today in my newly reconfigured OXY 2 - swapped out the FUBAR for a micro Spirit and moved it over to my FRSky QX 7 plus added full integration (Spirit to Tx) and ESC telemetry (HW25) so now I can change FBL config from the Tx plus get telemetry from the ESC (voltage, RPM etc.). I know that lots of people take this for granted now - but it still gives me a buzz

I maidened my 'new to me' TDR2.. In fact although i got the heli 'used' this was in fact a real maiden as it had never turned a blade previously. First spoolup was a bit exciting because i hadn't calibrated the ESC throttle end points correctly so it went to 100% throttle, which together with tail gain a bit too high made for a brown trousers moment... But after sorting out the ESC she's flying great.
Spec is:
- TDR2 carbon
- Servos: HiTec
- Motor: Pyro 800 Custom wound to 560Kv by SlowFlyWorld
- ESC Kontronik Kosmik 200A
- FBL: Spirit Pro

- Batteries: Revolectrix Bland 420 4400mAh 7S 40C x 2 for 14S (assembled by myself from a 3S and 4S packs due to shipping limits on the 7S pack)
