Another great weekend. Lots of flights yesterday with the 700 and the foamy. Lots of flights today with the 600 and the foamy. It was, of course, sunny.

I was out there and I did fly, but I just wasn't up to my usual standard, not sure why. 'Just one of those things I guess. Thursday was brilliant, like flying on the sim where everything 'clicked'.

Great weekends flying, I spent all day Saturday at the National Centre's fly-in and also managed to sneak another couple of hours in late afternoon. Every time I've been to one of their fly-in events there has been at least one other heli guy, on Saturday there were around 7 or 8 heli pilots which is not bad out of a crowd of about 30/40 pilots in attendance. A good few heli A and B certs were earned over the weekend as well. Two flight lines open on Saturday with Heli's and multi-rotors mostly operating from one and the fixed wing guys from the other (with a little mixing it up for folks with both types of model), really great atmosphere with all disciplines getting along just fine. I love this hobby.
I flew my Trex 700L and my new (to me) Goblin Thunder Sport, in 650 size for now.
The 700L - I don't know. It doesn't seem to be as locked in as it should be since I swapped out the Neo for a Silverline. Even in a hover, it just doesn't seem as steady as it should be and you can see it wobble and shake around in the wind. My much lighter Logo 600 (with Neo) doesn't display the same behaviour and neither did the Goblin. I'm going flying again tomorrow, so might re-set it up from scratch and tweak some head settings.
The Goblin:
Maidened it at 1800rpm so as not to stress anything. It was very well behaved. Heavy though. Even heavier than the 700L with the same motor and cyclic servos. Still it flew nicely.
I upped it to 2100rpm and went into some tic tocs. This showed a nasty shake on the aileron axis, so I landed and turned down the head gain about 8 points for that bank, and down about 10 points for 2200rpm. That sorted it.
So, next flight:
Spooled up, straight to 2200rpm, and started to give it some stick. About 2 minutes into the flight, I saw something float down from the heli. I thought it might have been some tape from inside the canopy or something, but I immediately brought it in to land to check.
Anyway, it turned out it was the carbon plate that I'd strapped on top of the batteries that fell out. Not only that, but the batteries were now loose in the heli, and the tail pulley had ground its way into my 13 cycle old 6S 4500 battery. Still, that was the only damage. I butchered the lipo to remove the damaged cell, but amazingly other than a couple of very slight puffs of smoke when I removed it from the heli, nothing happened, despite a gaping hole in it. It's now outside in the burning bin, just in case.
I really need to look into some battery mounting solutions for it. I might look into going back to the stock tray instead of the quick release as my 5000s don't fit.
Current fleet: Goblin Thunder Sport (700), Trex 700L, Logo 600, Specter 700, Henseleit TDR, V-Baaa control.
Next heli: I have pretty much everything I want. Maybe I'll upgrade some electronics or something.

Gladly swap you out some stock battery trays for the Quick Release one you have Darren.
5000mAh batteries I have no issues fitting in any of my Goblins mate and plenty of clearance.
I had yet another great day today. MK was sunny as usual. It started off very calm. I had 3 flights with the 600, 4 with the 700 and 14 with the foamy. As the wind increased during the afternoon the foamy flying became quite interesting.
Our new membership secretary, Alan finished building his foamy this afternoon and flew it. A gutsy effort in the gusty wind.
I saw the maiden of Garry's new Goblin 570, which has replaced the logo which he crashed some time ago. I was most impressed by both. They were good straight out of the box. A testament to their skills as builders.
There was quite a good turn out of other club members including Duncan O.

Took my Goblin Thunder Sport to the field today, seeing as there'll be no flying tomorrow, thanks to the weather. This time in its proper 700 form. There were no battery dramas, which was nice as one was brand new to replace the one I trashed.
I like it. I think I need to give it some time, get it dialed in a bit more (rates and head gain mostly), but it flew really well while it was calm and the sun was out. I love the sound you get from the tail on the big Goblins. The boom acting like a megaphone, amplifying the tail noise.

For all of 30seconds! Managed to land in one piece😏 minimal damage.
Good to see Richard V A after his exploits at the Nationals looking forward to seeing him at the 3D event at.Buckminster.
Also good to see Stargazer from the MK club doing his stuff at CMHC welcome back Dave😊
We got talking about windsocks? Do we actually need one?
Went out yesterday. Put 2x flights on the Goblin, 2x on the on the Trex 700, and 2x on the Logo 600. Got some Rotortech 710s on the Goblin now which I did like.
This was the first time I've flown both a 700 and my Logo 600 on the same day where I preferred the 700 (both of them). Previously I'd always preferred the 600. I guess they can't have been as windy as yesterday.
Off out again later this afternoon for a few flights, and to buddy box another club member who is learning inverted hovering.

good session at field with the logo 600 but not so good with the 700 which I lost past some trees hit throttle hold and broke the canopy and a tail link
very lucky escape was the third crash in a row following two others going in before me, but all minimal damage. was this the last of the summer?
