About 10 minutes flying in the sunshine today. Nothing too exciting just 'tail in' hovering, but nothing to repair is a bonus.

Always a good sign :-)

I flew the 550 today for the first time in weeks! Really nice day for it too and the flight went really well until I landed! I don't know what happened but I somehow managed to not hit throttle hold and instead hit idle up 2! This put the heli straight in skids first from about 3ft up on full negative!

So far it looks like broken skids, cracked frame, bent swash to blade grip links and the 2 front cyclic servos feel jammed up!

I am really gutted as this was my "nice" heli and this was the first chance I'd had to fly for ages! I still don't know how I ended up on full negative pitch and managing to hit idle up 2 instead of throttle hold!

Never mind eh, I'll just have to buzz the 450 and the quad about while I save up!

Very unlucky gazmk2. I know some people run -12/+12 in all flight modes, which means an accidental switch over wouldn't have banged it into the ground like that. Depends on your flying whether it's worth it.

I find -10/+10 on flight modes 1&2 with -5/+10 on normal mode seems to work best for my flying style. I tend to take off and land in normal mode unless it's windy in which case I'll land in fm1 and keep some negative in once down then hit throttle hold.

I still don't know how I managed this crash! It totally baffles me and is probably the biggest dumb thumb moment ever!!

Probably just panic, by rights your idle and hold curves should be identical so flicking into idle would just increase the noise. " of shit, quick land it " = full neg pitch lol

Did YOU fly today??

Went out this morning and did 5 packs on the 550 DFC. 15mph winds and 30mph gusts.... so the met office said, don't know how accurate that was but all I can say is was hard to get any decent speed up wind and when I was changing packs between flights, the canopy kept buggering off down the field!!
All good fun anyway, I like flying in strong wind, it makes things more interesting
