    • I did! My goblin got it's maiden flight! What an awesome machine that is! I also tried a few pirouetting circuits that I've been practicing.
And to end the day, I found a club members MCPX BL that he lost a few months ago. It's in a rather sorry state but at least they've got it back.
So today was a great day and a great laugh with the other flyers

      • Yep, flew for the first time in weeks.

Took my Swift, Trex 450, MCPx and 130x.

Nice and calm, bit chilly but worth the trip to the field. Had it all to myself too!
        Happy Landings.

        • gutted much damage?

Had the trex 600n out today with my (new to me) navarossi 57 and outrage pipe. spent a while getting it tuned got it a bit hot at one point and it stalled at 20ft luckily had lots of practice to autos so dint slam it into the ground like last time. nice gentle landing was well pleased. after that had 3 tanks through it fell like i was flying all day. iv still not got it set to full potential head speed but it was really nice compared to flying the 450 . did a few flips in all directions nose and side in. then a few very large roll and some FF rolls. then for a finish i though id give upside down a go as iv been practicing on sim and held it nice and steady although quite high up for a minute or so . it was nice the missis and kids turned up just as i was doing some cool stuff so over all a very good day.
This hobby is so dam addictive

          • Took the 600 out for it's "maiden" flight- no dramas apart from the version 3.1 software on 3GX- talk about power hungry !!,, sucked the electrons out of a 2S 3000mah lipo in less than 2 flights
            Anyone know where I can get 3gx v4 s/ware that isn't a RAR file ??

            • wanted a gentle end of the weekend so had a few smack-it-all-about flights with the 450 that didnt get much flight time lately, then I took the 700 out and really enjoyed it and closed the day on the quad fpv'ing ... weather was superb and not too cold, could do a few more weekends like this to be quite honest but bring back the SUN!!

                      • Had a mixed day today. It was really great to get out on a weekend and meet some of the new members of our club and socialise a bit, but on the other hand I personally had quite an awkward day's flying. Nothing felt right. I felt really disconnected from the heli - something I haven't felt for a while. Nothing felt natural. Also I am getting wound up by the incessant problem I have with the logo dropping is tail on slow pirouetting moves.

                        • Yes I did and it was a beautiful blue sky windless afternoon
My poorly 500 BeastX is still poorly (wobbles and twitches) and I am learning lessons. After the last crash, I thought "Cool just blades and boom"...but no....
Main bearings slightly rough, tail shaft VERY slightly bent, tail bearings rough, tail blade grip VERY slightly bent (blades not in-line at zero pitch).
So the lesson is blooming well check everything after a crash, a quick cursory glance is far from good enough.
                          Ho Hum.

Lots of different things that fly

Yeah, it's easy to overlook stuff. A few months ago my 500 fell off the shelf in my room, I looked it over and everything seemed fine and I took it out the following weekend only to discover as soon as I did a pre-flight check that one of the servo gears was stripped

                            • Yep, it's the tiny bent things that get me, I only spotted the bent tail grip after really REALLY looking for anything that could cause vibes - I could feel them on the boom but not find it for ages.
I think this is why some helis fly 'OK' after a rebuild, but never as good as before ...
I'm beginning to think that after a mud-arrival, just replace all bearings and anything that rotates, cos it's so hard to see what is slightly out-of-line.

                              • Yep there is always more to a crash than initial thoughts. Primary survey is the big stuff then comes the secondary survey to pick up the little stuff.

Often it will fly ok but just not quite as It should.
