I have to agree with the right honourable waveydavey here.

I enjoyed the banter with off the topic, and since these threads have gone from clear view there is nothing to draw me to the forum apart from helicopter stuff.

We are social creatures, and this is why the incredible rise of social media has been so prolific - like it or hate it, it works because it taps into a key function of how we exist. When those social media type threads disappeared from the main page it made this site less of a draw. The loss of tapatalk again makes me less likely to visit as I dont get the notifications like I used to. Whether tapatalk was such a liability to keep im not going to get into, its not my show, not my decision and I dont fully understand the issue so will keep out of that, but the fact is without it, I visit less.

Facebook is indeed a bit like Marmite, but for all its pitfalls, it is at the moment fairly all encompassing for my heli needs...

Probably because they are sick of getting shot down by Mr Know it alls unfortunately. Theres members on here have 10+ years experience in the hobby but when they post their technical answers then some feel the need to try their hardest to prove them wrong. Its a shame really but i can see why many are silent members now.

I put my E5 airframe & 80% of a complete airframe in spares on here for £300. I paid £600 a year earlier (with motor and servos). Had the usual 50 quid offers, but no sale. Split them & also put them on bmfa and sold them for £340 in two days?? Airframe sold on bmfa, spares on here? Seems like everyone wants a steal these days, as maj said! I don't think bumping helps much tbh, I get fed up with seeing the same things day after day. Maybe adopt a time limit, as on bmfa and you don't end up with 2 gazillion pages of stuff, mostly sold, but not marked as so?? I'm in the market for a new heli, but so little choice 2nd hand ( apart from summas gobln , which I can't afford ) , I've given up looking.

Not in anyway am i blaming, but i think the fact that there hasn't been a RCHA event this year means people are not sharing and having the crack prior and after the event which can be the subject of choice for over a month.
I know the reasons why it didn't go ahead and fully understand but i do think it will pick up with the event next year.

Too many companies jumped on the "sponsor a mouthpeace" ban wagon and used the forum as a platform too drive into members heads a name or product and shut out any decent...opinions become worthless...they killed it stone dead...

I said this a while ago but I can't remember too much shooting down. Everyone has an opinion on how something should be done and no one is right all the time. It's a shame that people can't rise above it and not bother reacting if this sort of thread goes on.

Could'nt agree more, every Tom, Dick and Harry (No Pun Intended Harry! ) are sponsored and they feel they must shout about everything, this is the latest and greatest and it is the bestest and greatest thing ever ever ever!!! They change allegiance every other month, one month this heli or this brand of blades is the best and the next this other brand is the best.. get's a bit tiresome.

The forum does'nt seem to be bun fight central like it used to be but that could be beacuse no one uses it anymore, a lot of the regular's have moved on or are as you say, silent members. Everyone thinks they know best and are unwilling to listen.

Speaking of the social network, i have noticed some member treat the forum like social media and just post stupid pictures of posts, social media is nothing more than a 'Look at Me' tool",. that's it.

The forum should be about friendly chat, and used for it's indended purpose which is to share helpful information and help out other members with problems. In the end it becomes a resource of information. At the moment it is nothing more than a resource of bun fights, dick measuring and ego one'upmanship.

I think people should feel lucky that the forums not ran like RR. The thing is... as with anything on here... its always put to you guys first which way you would like the forum to go. If people don't like the setup as currently is then its down to the members. A lot of the 'silent members' or regulars that posted a lot have moved on because people voted to say they did not want products shoved down their throats.

Unfortunately if you want help with a certain product then alot of the time it will come from a sponsored person. These sponsored person generally fly in competitions etc. They need to keep reliable setups. They go through probably quite a few different brands manufacturers until they find one that fits. When it does fit they have got every right to shout off about something that works for them. I would not confuse these people with those that get given products FOC and never bother to review them. Those are generally the ones that fly a brand simply because its free to them or they get some sort of backup. They shout off on the internet about it. The louder they shout the more noticed the brand gets and noteably them also.

I have got too disagree with your statement that the pros fly all the best stuff...the best pilot I know flies what I would call a peace of junk...but that is because he pushes so hard that nothing last him very long I have never seen him with the same set of blades twice...its us club flyers that turn up with all latest and greatest bits on our shiny toys...

I think you've read my post wrong. At no point did I mention 'the best stuff' or refer to pros flying 'the best stuff'. I think you've missed the point I was trying to make... it actually had nothing to do with what gear was being used. And its more to do with the fact that if some equipment was working well for someone then they have every right to say so. That could be a ZYX FBL system or a Vbar

I've got no hope, I fly spektrum, have a nitro and use a 3gx. It's a tough hobby with so much to learn so a good forum is an invaluable tool. But from who I've talked to they are all fed up of being shot down.

18 months ago our private section on here was being used daily, now its been moved to facebook, seems facebook is doing something right as all the old faces are active on there, if someone ****es you off, you just unfriend them or choose to not follow them, or even if your really childish block them completely, me with no offence taken to anyone on here, i much prefere facebook for the heli side of things, no rules for this rules for that, getting a yellow posty thing, recieving a infraction or what ever else it was called, it just seems to work for my needs

TBH i think the fun has been taken out of the for sale section and the forum in general due to over regulation. Used to have loads of laughs commenting and reading stuff in the for sale but its gone all serious with more rules than necessary.

At the end of the day the hobby and forum should be about having fun.
