This was my first ever visit to a RC show and overall I am disappointed, there was no more than 10 trade stands and half of them were just static displays, I asked the Optipower rep at the trade stand about some batteries, he was clueless IMO. Then I went to another stand expecting to see some good prices, nah normal prices and selling mickey mouse helicopters as well, the guys from Spin Blades looked like they just threw a few boxes in the back of the car and thought Fk it that will do.

Out to watch the flying and other than 2-3 pilots I thought the rest were average and the music is deafening, why do they play it so bloody loud, I'd rather listen to the blades than that trash.

The free flight was probably the best, as the music was toned down so you could actually appreciate the flying. I didn't see Tareq fly either, don't know if he was not there or he flew whilst I had a quick look round museum.

Would I go again, categorically NO

This was only the second Zone Event, and only the first Zone held at Yeovilton, things take time to progress and get better, I'm sure this year they'll learn from peoples criticism and make ZONE 2013 a lot better.

In some way I do agree with you, there was a lack of trade stands, and the overall condition was a bit cramped, but that's due to the fact it was held in a museum full of full size aircraft.

Personally, the only thing (in my opinion) that let it down, was the lack of crowd line area, there was about 10ft front of crowd line to back, therefore not a lot of room, think they could have maybe moved that barricade out a bit further.

But still, saying that they shouldn't play music defeats the object of the event, the event is a competition where pilots fly to music, if there was no music, there'd be no competition. If anything, I think they should have played the music louder because then you can really appreciate the synchronicity between the helicopters and the music.

There was nothing wrong with the volume of the music, the speakers were just terrible. They had to keep adjusting the volume because of distortion and kept getting it wrong!

I thought it was fine, although I do agree about the trade stands. I didnt see anywhere that I could obviously go and buy a new 700 from, which is why I took my credit card in the first place. It stayed in my wallet.

you must appreciate that getting all the stuff together takes a lot of work to make an event work and the organisers cannot see what the traders will bring to the event, also please remember the traders have to travel to these events so with the cost of fuel and making things cheaper on there stall isn't worth there while being there and i think the organisers will make it better every year.
            cheers

This doesn't sound good. Was planning to go tomorrow mainly for the trade stands as I want an mcpx. Amongst some other bits. Is there really no stands? Was tareq there or not?

Any hifi buff (and there's a few lurking about this forum ) will tell you that it's not so much the speakers that deliver good sound quality, but a good amplifier and good cabling. The speakers will only perform as well as they are driven. Drive them well and they will perform well.

But then, any professional personal address system owner/operator at an event would know that anyway wouldn't they?

You can't buy from HH, however hobby hanger are there, and i'm sure i saw a mcpx on the stand on my way out as it was closing.

OP, if you want a massive show then they tend to be more plank orientated, Weston park / Wings wheels & rotors @ north weald, and Hop farm later in the year.

                        I went to see 1 thing, 3D.

Ok there are some trade stands including a good hobby hanger stand, your not going to buy a new 700 , but you will get an mcpx :-)
Spin blades and optifuel are here and available :-)
Tareq didn't make it , sadly, which is a shame but the likes of some top international pilots did , and not to be shown up the Brits are on top form !!!!!
Mat gill, dave fisher, stefan Simmons and a drafted in at the last minuite jack bishop are on topform I mean on fire well done guys in fact everyone had a tough day blistering lay hot with a strong wind in their faces didn't help.
There were only a couple of minor music hitches caused by pilots using the wrong formatted music or the wrong USB stick .

Unbelievable flying and unforgiving concrete runways punish any mistake and tomorrow will be the best of the best .

Worth comming , he'll yes if music and crowd pleasing bravery and skill are your thing , then come on down its well worth it in my opinion .
                          X Rachel

Mixed opinions it seems! I think with it being such relatively new event, the organisers will make improvements for the next one. I say fair play to anyone who can put on ANY event, especially of this size.

Location location location stops me from making it to most of these events unfortunately, but for everyone going tomorrow I hope you have a good day!
