Meh, should get the JR I mentioned. You don't need all them bling parts they just add weight, lol...

Have you tried upping the headspeed?

Narr that doesn't bother me, there's hardly anything between the plastic and alloy parts.

What JR what that by chance?

About 70-80$ (perhaps) from the USA. It's the best so you'll never have to replace it again but I can understand if you want a cheaper one.

There is a UK name for it as well, can't remember what it is though.

TBH mate I don't really want to spend that much right now, about £30 is the limit I want to go for, But I heard a Futuba dig' tail servo had come down from 30-20ish and its a superb piece of kit combined with the 401, but can I remember the bloody serial number of it?

There is a cheap Footaba Digital 3154 I think off top of my head.

If you can stretch a Footaba 9257 or a JR3500G would be better and longer lasting

Phil, the whole tail control now has completely gone up shits creek, and whatever I do now with the present set up, it just makes it worse.

The tail whipping and spinning happened earlier this morning after fitting the new blade grips, I took her out and all she done was spin uncontrollably before she even took off, which she didn't of course.

So until I have a word with Mike if he can spare an hour next week sometime I've given up on her, I'm sure the Gyro has some sort of damage, yet when I changed over the tail servo all was fine, then it slowly became uncontrollable again from start up.

So I haven't a bloody clue right now, all the settings are the same in the TX, yet depending on the weather( what else!) she can fly okish one minute, then a few hours later is just a spinning crazy machine?

OK new servo ordered the Digital Futaba S3153 with the metal gears, which should be a match made in heaven when Mike kindly shows me how to match and set the two together.

Another hurdle will then be learned, then it's only the ESC that I don't fully understand.

Slowly getting there, but for the sake of a few days I'll ground her until some proper parts are added to cure this issue for good.

Gives me time to admire her new alloy head.

                      Thank you Kev'.

I'm going for the metal geared version in hope of making it a bit more crash proof, what with everything else I don't really want to spend more than that right now.

I've also got three control surface servos to replace to 65MG's as my current HS55's though they control her superbly at my current level of flying, and allow me to hold her very precisely when needed, haven't the strength for much more then I'm already giving her, as I've been told!

HS-65MG on tail works pretty good also, seems to hold strong. Although it is a little slow so it can move a bit before being grabbed. Certainly good enough for mild 3D. No problems running it at 6V unlike most futaba servos.

The 3154/3153 burn out on anything above 4.8V very, very fast.

I thank you again for your kind advice my friend, so regarding I'm only doing very gentle tail control movements do you think the new Futuba Servo will give me trouble.

Again I thank you for your time and efforts.

As long as it's on 4.8 mate you should be fine. I hope it lasts a long time for you!

No problem, as long as you're not using cheap, cheap, cheap servos you should be fine mate .

The S3153 has bearings in instead of bushings like the S3154 so it is a little more robust.

                                Hi Wayne,

I have the 3153 on my tail and I think it is a reasonably good servo but just can't each its full potential whilst connected to my current rubbish gyro.

I have read a lot about them burning out at 6.0v so I would check the output of your ESC with a DVM to see what it is delivering. My ESC is putting out 5.01v as good as my DVM can measure so I am not worried about that at all.

You can buy a voltage dropper (or possibly even re-program your ESC if it supports that) if your ESC is currently putting out 6.0v.

                                Cheers

                                Gary.
