Well good progress made today just need to get a few bits to move on

as you can see from the first pic the servos and tail where already fitted so I got to work fitting the head and main gear which was quit tricky to get the bolt through but a little bit of patience and I got there

i am over the moon with the quality of the parts realy nicely finished off and the kit seems to be going together easily. I also thought I would check all the bolts in the head and they already had locktite one

I then started on the skids which was an easy and had it done in about 5 mins the heli is now starting to take shape

After that I was going to fit the motor so set the pinion to the right hight and realised that there was no screws to fit it boooooo so I will have to get some

does anyone no what motor and esc this is I think it is a copter x but not sure as nothing wrote on

As I couldn't get the motor fitted I started locktiteing all of the screws also fitting the tail rotor blades and ball links

it is coming together nice now I just need my battery and charger to turn up so I can set the servos and gyro up also I have to order some more wire cover because I bought the wrong size haha
the two canopys I got are not the best so I am going to get a new one and also some white rotor blades

here is a couple of pics to see it up to now

      Looking good mate!
One thing to do, plug your tail servo directly into any servo port on the rx and get the servo arm at 90 degrees centre stick. Do this before you connect the tail servo into your gyro.

Another thing is, if your motor shaft doesn't have a flat spot, just as mine didn't on my 450. I took a Dremel with a grinding wheel and made a flat spot on the motor shaft for the grub screw to bite down onto more securely!
Also when you do fit the motor as a trial run, put the pinion on dry (no loctite) then see how high up the shaft the pinion has to be in order for it to be level at the top with the main gear. You don't want the pinion sitting too high above the main gear or too low.
Also it's worth balancing your rotor blades, I have noticed there hasn't been a mention of it on here yet, I balanced some carbon fibre blades last night and I couldn't believe how far out of balance they were from each other! Prevents any unwanted vibrations on your rotor head this way.
      😊
Hope the rest of the build goes well! 👍

Yeah you'll probably find them to be a PITA and they'll strip very easily. You'd do well to upgrade them to something like HS65mg's, which are very durable. Just bear in mind that for the tail you will need a specific tail servo.

If I were you I'd also keep any eye out in the sale forums for a better gyro, like a quark or gy401 (if you plan on sticking with the flybar that is).

Good luck with it all, Phil

              Hi

              Glad it all turned up.

To use the swash leveller you need to remove the head and flybar from the main shaft to leave just the swash. Then slip the tool over the main shaft and rest it on the swash. Adjust servos as necessarily to achieve a level swash with the servo horns at 90 degrees.

Mate, the absolute best thing you could do is to watch finless bobs build videos on helifreak. It'll give you a greater understanding of what you're trying to achieve and walk you through every step.

Trex 450 SE and general build videos are here - HeliFreak

You'll need to register at helifreak to download them but it'll be worth it.

Spent a couple of hours soldering, covering , heat shrinking this after noon takes a lot longer than I thought but got the motor and esc done

then connected it up and sorted out the servos all the wires still a mess but I will sort that when I get some more mesh

Looks like you've done a very nice job there mate. Them helping hands are a god send when soldering!
Just one thing, how will you tell the colour of the wires with that braiding on the esc and motor once it's in the heli?

The colours don't matter... If the motor runs backwards, swap 2 wires and it's sorted.

I just asked as it saves time having to mess swapping wires about once it's in the heli. The braiding does give it a nice finish and stops any chaffing
Looks a decent looking heli aswell for the price.

How's the rest of the build coming on now mate? I'm looking forward to seeing you finish it and getting it maidened Takes me back to that thread where I said it is possible to build a cheap 450 heli and most people were saying that it wasn't possible.
