Don't forget, with the BNF (Bind 'n Fly) version, you'll need to buy a transmitter too - The DX6i is probably the best value. See one of my earlier posts for a decently priced (new) one.

If any newbie can pick up a single-rotor heli and learn to fly without crashing (possibly fairly often) - I will eat my hat!
Your hat hat is safe with me Tom, just ask my cat, sofa, wallpaper, face and wife's orchid. These repair costs aren't cheap, have you seen what orchids cost? (No cats were hurt in the making of this reply.)

        +1 on that

a lot of good advice on previous threads, but also a lot of snobbery...the guy has got £150 ok ive crashed and its cost me that and more in repairs, but he can get a basic cp & tx for that 2nd hand and learn the hard way.he can get a sim & dx6i for that ok not an heli but he can get a feel and see if its for him.but people that say dont buy fly barred its 2013... what!!! the guy is a beginner on a budget and just started on this road of madness, beastx 3g vortex etc is all over my head at the moment and looking at posts on here quite a few more of us as well.we all started small with what we could afford then progressed....well some of us lol !!! keep it real a rappy 30 fb was the dogs,, pick one up now for next to nothing cos its not the trend...its got to be a gobbo, logo etc why!!! they all give pleasure regardless.sorry rant over :-)

I've noticed that aswell on here mate, a lot of snobbery and most of the people are like them spoilt kids that you used to get at school. You know the ones who you could just slap. The ones who always had to have the best. Some of the grown men on here are still like that now, just have to have the latest and greatest out and be the first to have it so they can say...Wooh look at me I'm so good I have the latest model. Who gives a flying.....
Like you say pal I'm the same, if it flies it flies. Small minded people just having to follow the fashion trend and they berate something of it's old or has a flybar :/

Best thing about it aswell is I can guarantee that most of the heli snobbery people have credit cards that are maxed out to death and in so much debt just so they can try look 'good' with that new £1000 worth of heli. And makes me laugh when they post pictures of all their 'top notch' models in their houses and the houses look like they are dives in the background and havn't been decorated in 20+ years. It was like this three years ago when I was first on here and it's still the same now,

Some people just don't grow up. Grown men and their main priorities are playing with Helis. A hobby is a hobby, it's supposed to pass the time not fill it. I don't rekon a lot of people on here know that. And it's about having FUN! Some just take it tooooooo serious.
Get whatever fits your budget I say, not what pleases every f&&ka else just in the hope to get a name for yourself and try get 'mates' lol!

I think you went with the snobbery comments too far. No matter how you look at it, 150 is just simply unrealistic budget for one of the most expensive and unforgiving forms of RC hobby. Also, bashing people for buying expensive helis.. it would be something like bashing someone for spending £1000 on a skiing holiday, or a new bike, instead of decorating a house. A hobby is a hobby, some people can afford to prioritize fun in their lives. I sure can not, with wife and a baby, other priorities take place, but I'd never dare to make such comments like "makes me laugh", "some people just don't grow up" just because I don't have a fleet of 700s myself.

IMO, people usually respond to low budget threads to get poster a more realistic view how expensive this hobby really is. That's it.

I started out with an msr best money I ever spent as taught me alot had fun and sold it a year n half later for £45 on the bay
So starting out micro is not a waste, but i would stick with the blade range to start as easier to fix and sell on later

Similar to Leigh, I'm running an mSRx RTF, will add a DX6i in a few weeks and maybe a Nano CP in the summer. Fun doesn't have to equate to £££s.

I am starting out with a second hand bnf blade msrx it cost £45 and I have spent about £20 on repairs so it doesn't have to cost a fortune to start out there is a lot of good deals out there for people just wanting to try it

If I still had Msr I'd prob use it in house or indoor clubs, they teach you so much orientation control and they bounce very well, I used to fly at a club where you flew thru hoops landed on 6inch square boxes, turn tables all against the clock so great for stick control and these Msr were the best all rounders

It will come with practice learning all basics and orientation is key the hoops and boxes helped speed stick control up
I still practice all my circuits on Sim as well as new stuff all helps if it goes a bit wrong at least ur use to seeing heli from every angle. Less likely to do a rabbit in head lights
