  • Tarot ZYX flybarless

Video of my mates Tarot ZYX flybarless system. Why the hell do we pay silly prices for flybarless systems when this one for example is equivalent or better (IMO) than say the Align 3GX offering??? As you can see my mates no hardcore 3der and this was only its second flight after fitting to the model. Have to say though i was very impressed. It easily blows the 3G out the water and IMO is better than their 3GX. Now i know people might start say they are just clones or rip offs but then id say to them then how come they are working better? Surely we are at the point now where there should be no instances of gear being publically beta tested on us. Id like to see someone really fly the nuts off one of these just to see how they hold up. Anyways take a look...

This was purchased for £40 online but from what i hear Hobby King and Copter X have their own systems which are essentially exactly the same unit.

I once watched a friend fly his Rex500 with a Gaui fbl system fitted and remember thinking it looked ok,I then flew it myself and decided it was the biggest load of $hit I had ever had the misfortune to fly.

I flown these things for quite a while now and can tell when a heli flys bad within the first seconds of takeoff. If youd also seen the way this heli performed with a flybar only a few weeks before youd understand where i was coming from. BTW this is a HK450 clone airframe with a very cheap ESC and motor. I cant imagine how bad the tolerances are on some of the gear in it yet this fbl unit still performed well on it. We all know how fussy fbl is full stop regarding vibration etc etc. IMO this unit is definately as good if not better than a 3GX. We'll see how it holds up quality wise but flight characteristics i have got to say its as good if not better (from what i have seen to date anyways).
BTW all the tweks he done were from my recomendation from seeing the first flight (and ive never used one of these units ever). And they worked extremely well.
Id have a go only he flys the tail back to front lol :-S

I'm putting one on my 600 in place of the BeastX which is going on the Fusion, I'll be able to test it back to back on the same machine and although not a 3D god I can fly well enough to say whether it's comparable.

Some say that tarot is a bastad son of Align. How true is this. There was talk that the ZYX was a clone of the 3GX, etc etc but without satellite suport it's not the same but that's not to say that Align haven't licensed the gyro part.

Personally I feel that Align would have, and also the resources to test their products more extensively over Tarot. As with all flybarless systems out there they all have a different feel and ppl will always have their preferences.

I'm not such a great fan of the BeastX, but tbh.. can see traits in it why some ppl do like it. As probably with what ppl may see in the Tarot system when they fly it...Money wise though, does look like a punt.

I would guess that for every 1 tarot fbl unit, there are literally 100(s) ALign 3g's/3gx out their on the market. You are going to get a lot more moans and groans on forums.. and the 'Beta' testing commment about Aligns products always going to crop up.. which tbh I feel is a little unfair..

After flying the tarot unit for the first time yesterday I must say that it has improved this heli no end. As Lee has already said if you had seen it before fitting this unit the heli was all over the shop.I could never get the tail solid with the align gyro on it always had a wag.Only minor adjustments were made from the stock recomended settings with this unit and now it feels alot more like im flying on the simulator.
Lee, next time were out I will reverse my tail and you can have a go and give an opinion once you have flown it but I dont think t will disapoint you.

I have also heard some good reports about these cheaper FBL units. A few people i know have them and also say they perform as well as the 3GX and Beastx. I think if nothing else they are a good way for people on a budget to get into FBL.

Good to see the flying still going strong. Shame I was too hung over to come and join you lot!

Next time though, I may even one day get my engines sorted.

So from what your saying if its better than the 3GX' then it will p*** the beastx, only yesterday chap at the field showed me his one which he's yet to fit but must admit it looks much more than the price, also he has another unit that can be used to programme the unit & test the servo's, I think he said both units were 60odd quid
Today's outlook is fine for flying.

I have both the copterx and tarot versions (although am currently selling the tarot one on eBay so that all my helis fly with the copterx fbl unit to keep a single programmer).

In use, I note no difference between them and at my standard of flying were easy to setup and gave great flying characteristics with minor twiddling.

I have never used any of the so called high end systems so have nothing to compare against. I am happy and that is the main thing.
