Align 3gx mini review

I decided to do a quick review of the 3gx.
I fitted the system last night to my 550 using 2 spectrum satellites,first thing I noticed is so far I can't get it to cut the throttle in a failsafe situation if you power the motor up and switch the tx off,the motor just keeps running I have asked on the us forums about this to see if I am missing something.

Initial programming is the same as the 3G as far as fbl setup and rudder setup goes,the unit is the same size as the Beast x and comes with the USB dongle and two thin sticky pads that are pretty hard.

After initial setup you can load some ballpark parameters for various align models in either expert,normal or beginner,you can fine tune these after that.

Off to dmhc shortly,just hovered it in the garden and initially it feels ok,tail gain was waAay too high tail bounced like crazy on stops but reduced it and it feels very locked with nice hard stops,cyclic was really sensitive at centre stick so added some expo and it feels better.

Not really gonna play with the pc software I just want to see where I can get it using tx adjustment and the pots.

So far so good.

Chris, just too add something too this for me, what other FBL systems have you owned?

I'm initially not looking to get one off these while bundled with the new 600 but would be good to know what they are like compared to a beast, 3g or Vbar (the only ones I have or do own)

Rest assured, Chris will give an accurate run down on the Ups/Downs of the 3GX. I dont think there is much in the way of 3D FBL units which Chris hasn't owned, or flown!

I have flown Gaui,3g,Skookum 720 and 360,V bar since V4,Beast,cgy 750

Couple of basic vids on I Phone so not brilliant,still very positive thoughts on it,more flying later.

I have the pots at default 12 o clock and it seems best here,i turned them up a bit and got a SLIGHT elevator oscillation but at default its good,tail feels very locked,good hard stops each way and piro consistency seems pretty good.Cyclic feel is really precise and progressive.I turned the cyclic travel down a bit as flips and rolls were very fast,also running 15% Expo as its really lively on centre stick.

I like it a lot so far and plan to get as many other people to have a dabble and comment but bystanders say it looks good in the air.Also another day with a proper camera will get a decent video of someone or other flying it.

I dont want to get drawn into if its better than any other system as i treat them all the same as in the fact that if the model flies good i am happy,the 550 flies good with V Bar and Beast and appears to fly good with this also.

Look's like the 3GX is a winner,plus has two satalite connector's,competitor to the BeastX,time will tell.

My piro flips are more like piro flops but Piros are good have done 11 flights now and altered nothing really like it.

We will have a better video up later and Aidi has flown it too and will post later on the subject.

I will leave it on the 550 for now loved every minute flying it today,I love my v bars with a passion but more importantly I do this hobby to fly and have fun and the 3gx has not dissapointed.

Will add to this thread as necessary and plan to get others to fly it mainly Dave Lloyd and Matt lodge hopefully within the week.

Chris was kind enough to give me a shot on his 550 with the 3GX this afternoon..

Its good! Ok, i aint the best flyer in the world, but i can tell a good locked in heli when i fly one. It flew like a charm and didnt throw up anything i didnt want it to do. Nice and lively on the sticks and with a nice steady wind today.

Flying the 3GX on Chris's 550 then a pack straight after on my 550 with BeastX, then it's too close to call. Both came down after 5mins with about 23% left in identical packs, so no real advantage there.

I think Align now have a FBL unit which will setup straight out of the box, with very little additional "tweaking" needed to make the model fly well.

The main advantage over the BeastX is the physical setup. The 3GX has the edge by having twin Spektrum sats thus taking the requirement for a set of linking cables to a receiver.

Time will tell when more and more are tested, and its in more capable hands than mine! But I think its going to right there with the BeastX for a while.

i was thinking about a Vbar but if this is good i may change my mind because its an all in one
