Talon 90 for my Goblin 500 ? Good ? Bad ? Your views

I think in the hobby, you have to go on your own personal experience with products. I wouldn't give a company a bad report if I hadn't used there products if not fair and can start rumours.

To be fair, there are several threads over the web to do with failures. I would think its in the interest of the hobby to advise other potential buyers of the horror stories out there. They aren't rumours and ive certainly not started them, ive simply linked to another forum showing Pictures of burnt up models using this esc. I've used two other castle esc's and not had an issue so not like I haven't used them. I feel I'm forced into it due to cost implications and money no object, would opt for a brand with fewer of these threads out there.

Its ok basing things on personal experiences but you can't ignore the horror stories out there which happen for one reason or another. For every nightmare, there may well be hundreds who are happy, but its the fires which stand out.

Id been pm"ing don about that, made and offer and didn't hear back. 5mins after I'd said yes on a talon order, he put it up. It's done now.....will have it for setup at the weekend.

Im going to stick to my original decision to go with the Talon. There is bound to be more failures in any product that sell loads. I'll just make sure all is set up 100%correct. Yippee. Saved £150. That is if all goes well

There have been some genuine problems with CC ESCs; but I've got loads, and I think they're good, with good support.

I certainly wouldn't worry on the basis of non-specific concerns.

If you're new to them or BLDC motors, I'd suggest being a bit conservative with the set-up; and avoid long battery leads or bad connectors.

Even the expensive ones go POP! Just had a Jive 100+LV die on me on spool up. Admitedly it didn't catch fire but it's still dead as a Dodo. Ironically if there is ever a good time for an ESC to fail, just after the soft-start sequence is probably it.

I made the same choice then my Talon 90 output connector came un-soldered after about ten flights causing me to crash.

It was false economy and i wish i had invested in the YGE controller i now use from the start
