I use a Talon on my Trex 550V2, no problems at all and the governor works great, However the one I fitted on my Goblin 500 ran very hot in that tight little space so you may want to look at increasing the ventilation in the bottom of the canopy...

What you have to remember all manufactures have failures , castle kontronik yge, and how many units do they sell worldwide.
Everyone is quick to slate a product, sometimes its and problem with the products other times it the setup or not correct fitment by the end user.
Our models are getting more complicated and technical than they used to be.Santander Factory Team

Firstly I wasn't arguing, secondly my own failure rate was 1 in 9 and that was replaced under warranty, thirdly If I didn't already have 2 kontronik 120hv esc would replace with castle happily. IMO they are a fair product for a fair price.Originally posted by Reality Bites View PostYou can't argue with the reputation thoughSantander Factory Team

Hi,
I’ve been running the Talon 90 for over 168 flights on my G500 with scorpion 4020-1350 motor and been following the fire threads very carefully.
IMO and from what I have read you need to ensure you choose the correct gearing for most efficiency for the rpm you want to run and not over push it by going over 2850 rpm. If you’re a very hard 3d flier who likes to run at max rpm I’d suggest not to go for the Talon 90.
I’ve had no problems running at mainly 2600-2700 rpm with a 16T gear. Hope it helps?

I use the Talon90 in my Goblin with the Quantum 4115 motor. No problems at all. Happy to share my settings. I also use the Castle Edge 130 in my 550X - again with no issues (so far).
Neither have had a huge amount of flights, but I am very wary of wild reports on forums of things blowing up.
Lots of things could cause an ESC to experience problems - poor soldering, faulty motor, faulty LIPOs etc. The problem is that CC had issues previously (with the ICE range I believe) so now people are quick to blame them when things go wrong. I've yet to see a single report that has done some root cause analysis.
Also, the sheer number of Castle products out there means that there are more likely to experience failures. The failure RATE though is I believe very small, and probably on a par with other manufacturers.Tom

I've been watching that thread since it started. Unfortunately, it's almost become a kind of clarion call for those that are unhappy with Castle products.Originally posted by Reality Bites View PostThis is one of a few I've found.
Goblin 500 is smoking... literally! Thanks CastleCreations/Talon 90 - HeliFreak
BTW : Castle support apparently advise AGAINST using the Scorpion BUG with their ESCs.Tom

Actually you can argue with reputation. Mainly because it's a subjective view based on who shouts the loudest and longest about things rather than any objective and detailed data such as comparison of independently verified published failure rate percentages. But mostly reputation just boils down to the latest gossip and you should never put any trust to gossip.Originally posted by Reality Bites View PostYou can't argue with the reputation thoughToday I broke my personal record for most consecutive days lived

I wouldn't have said started, just circulated?Originally posted by GIXERMAN View PostYou just said you can't argue about there reputation though 5minutes ago and your one of the ones who start the rumours lol
I can't justify paying double right now and I'm too impatient to save. If it blows up on first hover, I have myself to blame.

I think in the hobby, you have to go on your own personal experience with products. I wouldn't give a company a bad report if I hadn't used there products if not fair and can start rumours.Originally posted by Reality Bites View PostI wouldn't have said started, just circulated?
