Hi Dan, I was under the impression the opti managed the battery itself. If it's flat then it will charge itself off the RX/Flight pack, if it's charged and left for a month then it will discharge itself to storage charge level. Maybe I am misong something but I would jut plug it in to the Heli and let it sort itself out.

The missing bit is that if the pack really is too low to support the heli if the main power fails then it isn't really providing a backup, and more importantly, if the pack really is faulty then it isn't going to matter how long it is left there it isn't going to recover.Originally posted by hedge View PostHi Dan, I was under the impression the opti managed the battery itself. Aside from that, yes, the pack will be managed and recharged under normal circumstances and I wouldn't expect a lipo to self discharge to storage levels in only a month, generally takes a lot longer than that.

If it's broken then yeah it's broken. Just re-read the spec you press the button for 5 secs to enter storage mode, it won't automatically do it. That said there is a constant drain on the battery so you should unplug the lipo if not using it for more than 2 months. The batteries don't cost a lot but it's still a pain good luck.

Guys, I found the lipo to be faulty, so hooked up another 2s lipo to the Optiguard and now all is fine
I have a few Optiguards, I always unplug and put them in storage mode when not using a model for a long period of time.
like Hedge said, they usually take care of themselves and balance charge on the heli but this was just simply a case of a duff lipo!
Thanks for your input
Dan.

Hi all,
The Lipo on my optiguard is totally flat (that's why kids, you don't leave the batter connected to the board for 10 months solid)...
Have installed my spare one that is without an LED. Just wondering how many are running without the LED?Harry

Hello Harry
I use the led's on both of mine, I think they are really needed so you can see that the OG has taken over and it is time to come in......Regards Adrian

Why don't you move the battery onto the one with the LED? It's only held on with the shrink wrap and a sticky pad.Originally posted by Planehazza View PostHi all,

Thought about to doing that but haven't got any shrinkwrap. I'll give it a go without the LED and see how I feel about monitoring it. I do agree, the LED is worth the peace of mind though...Originally posted by tomatwalden View PostWhy don't you move the battery onto the one with the LED? When I replaced my LIPOs, I just slit the shrink wrap open with a stanley knife on the back, then used it again with some sellotape!Originally posted by Planehazza View PostThought about to doing that but haven't got any shrinkwrap. Doesn't look fantastic, but works fine.

Hi all. I've got all of my UG430s 're-batteried' and ready to rock. I've fitted it to my G4 which is now HV without a regulator. The LED is constantly on, and the voltage is very quickly fluctuating by around 0.4v according to the display on the CGY750. Also, the LED is not flashing fast (as if it had kicked in) but is slowly flicking between bright and brighter. Here's a video:
Could this just be because mine aren't on the latest firmware to support LiPos? I take it I couldn't fly with it as is currently?Last edited by Planehazza; 10-04-2016, 11:37 AM.Harry

See FAQ at : Optipower - OPTIPOWER ULTRA Guard 430 COMBO
In particular ...
The LED appears to be on all the time?
This might occur on the earlier UG430 with no diodes on the LED, this is caused by leakage voltage when the set voltage is above 7.2V. We can upgrade the firmware and supply a modified LED if this happens just call us.Tom

Mental, I looked over the site and missed that! I really should get around to sending these off to Opti to be updated...Originally posted by tomatwalden View PostSee FAQ at : Optipower - OPTIPOWER ULTRA Guard 430 COMBO

Does your UG430 have a USB port? The system LED (main white one) will glow above 7.2 volts this is helped by the later LED with diodes but not completely addressed. The higher the voltage the brighter it shins but ts on all the time not flashing.Originally posted by Planehazza View PostHi all. I've got all of my UG430s 're-batteried' and ready to rock. If the unit is sometimes flashing other times not this probably means your RX pack is not holding voltage correctly under load.

Thanks Andy. Mine are early models with no USB port. It's a brand new opti 2s rx pack and it hasn't even been in the air yet. This is just on the ground so far. LED is always on but brightness changes as voltage changes (lipo charging from rx pack) .Harry
