So either you didn't clean the parts or you didn't allow enough time for the loctite to reach its full strength, about 6 hours at room temperature.

Out in the field loctite 243 might be better as it is proven to tolerate slight contaminations of oil (whatever the definition of slight may mean) and also cures faster down from 6 hours to about 2 hours.

Edit: The other thing I just thought of is the hub nut dished slightly. If it is then try putting it on that gives the greatest surface area contact.
To be fair to the Goughmiester he had done all of the above, there was blue loctite on the threaded part of the crank & the fan and nut were fairly hard to unscrew. I think it may have been a bit more to do with the design, it's the first model I've worked on that doesn't have some kind of locking collar on the fan hub, the fan screws down and is only held in position with the 12mm nut wound up against it. When you think of the vibrations, heat & energy those components are subject to I'm surprised TT didn't put a bit more effort into the design. LG did say that there was some red loctite included in the kit, on reflection I'd say that's what it could be for.

I have had my engine nut come loose a few times, thought it may be because I threaded the fan for the YS engine, I just make sure I use a good wallop of thread lock now......

It would appear then that TT have not changed the way they fit the fan hub from the original Raptors going back years.

I had Hirobo Sceadus which used the same system. What I found worked is to get a crank locking tool and then use a bar drilled for the two clutch bolts to hold it in place on the fan hub to get very good leverage to do it up first and then put the locking nut on. As you have it done now it doesn't really matter.

i cured my rappy 90 by fitting a quick uk fan and hub which has a tapered collar at the bottom
i think the newer ones have the tapered collar both ends
having seen a g4 metal fan at midland helicopters today it won't fit the old rappy

and my 90 tt fan hub came loose on its first start up attempt hence the quick uk fan was fitted to solve the issue
i've used the std tt hub on a 60 with a good load of loctite and done up ft

I don't want to come over as some kind of deviant but as fans go the G4 one is pretty sexy isn't it? Cooling fan porn!
If I had one I'd get a Perspex fan shroud! Lol

I will play around with more. Done a few inverted autos today, deffo better than the Logo, can stick a lot of piros in them .

I got some better pics too so just going to upload and edit them then I will edit my first post.

The manual doesn't say what loctite to use. In general the manual does seem slightly more aimed at advanced pilots who already know how to build helis. That's just my feeling anyway. With my socket set and crankshaft locking tool I did get very good leverage on it as well as having a day to cure... I had also cleaned with alcohol and used 243 oil resistant loctite which I normally use exclusively. Red loctite seemed to work without any cure time it was that strong... Anyway all good

The spektrum servos seem to work great and are very fast.

Yeah the fan is sexy alright and nicely machined. It is a shame its hidden away!
