Woodsta, remember you could use the YEP 160/180hv as its a copy of the YGE and also has active freewheel for partial load. Will save some money but If you can afford it buy the yge or kontronik money well spent.

      Absolute winner Bavers!

Ordered a 180A YEP. Apparently from the same factory as YGE until they got caught and had their contract ended. Prolly more than one story regarding YEP & YGE. Gives me more money to spend on a fbl controller.

Had some kit turn up today. Main blades I sent back as the box was damaged and had been opened. Very very slight scuff where the box damage was. Retailer was very good and is swapping them tomorrow. Can't remember my benzin blades being that impressive.

Anyway, just installed the motor this eve and following maj's advice for mesh and the lower motor block catches the tail rotor gear. This gear is not the 'roundest' I've come across and has a high/wide point.

What you guys do to overcome the binding on the motor mount? File mount, if so how much?

The R48 Anearobics Retainer in the kit. Is this for pinion grubs or should I use the red 262 thread locker? I haven't used any of the R48 anywhere in the kit yet. Should I have?

      Left to purchase are:

FBL controller - Vbar up there but really love the skookum 720 with gps for hard/soft deck. Deffo want sometyhing with at least bailout.
Batteries for 12s (any brand recommendations)
RX lipo vs BEC (undecided which way)
      Optiguard backup board
      2 x satellite receivers

Er, someones gonna point out something obvious I need.

      Thanks for any replies

Did you order the programming card for the YEP? It's around a tenner but you will need it.

I ordered the programming card asking myself did I really need it. Glad I did.

Only problem is I didn't click on the Euro warehouse or UK when i thought I had so it's coming from the states. Hope I don't get clobbered with import duty.

Got collared by import duty on my ESC. Extra £38 required by the shipping company. I don't know if this is usual from hobby king where you pay extra shipping on top. Bit annoyed as it said stock in the EU warehouse then defaulted to the international warehouse in Hong Kong.

            Ordered my final bits:

            2 satellite receivers
            Bavarian Demon 3sx
            Optiguard Pro
            CC BEC pro
2S lipo for bench setup or if I do away with BEC.
some servo extensions & Y leads.

And I still forgot to order a blade caddy. Will any 90 size caddy fit?

Just batteries to go. Some Gens Ace 5100Mah 30c for £84 each when they come back in stock.

Wait until you fly it :-) I've still got mine and for those that know me that's saying something.

Blade caddy most will fit. Mikado ones work well.

                Cheers Maj,

I noticed, after purchasing the BD 3SX and looking at that section of the forum - that you have moved over to these.

I hope I may run my settings past you at some stage to boost my confidence that I have input the correct thing before its maiden/mayday?

Well I was a bit disappointed today. After 50 flights I had to add 0.2mm worth of shimming to the head. Talk about high maintainence.

                    Not as disappointed as me.

I've spent £1,000 with a certain well known shop and both deliveries were badly packaged and damaged the contents.

First delievry couple of weeks ago my 800mm blades were obviosly the ones no one wanted in the shop. Box had been whacked and a big gouge taken out of it. I was assured the blades were fine as they looked at them. Swapped them no issue.

Today next installment had the flimsiest box with no packing and a £420 bavarian 3sx box looked 2nd hand. Don't know about you guys but when I buy something I want it mint at that price. The BEC pro had bent fins on the heatsink and the optiguard packaging was split and bent and the lipo had puffed with the damage.

Sending it all back and using another retailer next.

As for the build well now getting confused with all the electrical stuff. More reading needed but as always start reading into stuff too much. Had me last night testing if there was shortage from the motor via mounting bolts being too long.

Currently undecided where to put the ESC. Manual says underneath the tail mount but Simone Zunterer has hers on the front of the heli. Do I need to faux install everything and check the C of G before using sticky mounting pads?

Any pics of your electronics installation would be appreciated.

Still undecided on a BEC or an RX lipo. What you guys use?

If I level the swash with the easy calibration holes then, put a spirit level on the main grip pointing aft - it aint level.

                    Thanks in advance.

Guess you've used 3 of the 4 shims from the kit then Maj?

I will load a few pictures tomorrow of the electronics install. Shimming is 1.75mm per side. Use the holes and that should level swash and then adjust the 2 pitch links to set zero degrees with the blades installed and pitch gauge.

Here are a few pictures of my E750. The same as my E820 underneath.

The E820 with Align 780's has a lot of pop and the Slightly shrunk down E750 is very precise and both very enjoyable. It really does show how different blades have such an influence on style.

I don't use a external BEC so minimal components to mount plenty of space as esc can go at the front on top/underneath, side mounted or rear.

                            Thanks for the pics Maj,

Given me some ideas. Neat work with all that shrink tubing. Those Kosmiks really do look the business, especially with the bolted connections.

You run a seperate receiver with the Vbar or Vbar not use sats? And what's the gubbins on top of the reciever?

I guess flybarless units don't mind other gear and the motor being that close to it?

Can you use long 6s packs with the e820 or do you need a different tray underneath?

Hopefully get my refund from all my kit I returned tomorrow so I can repurchase some kit, although I have to buy outside the UK for stock.

Got myself a great Rotherberger solder torch from screwfix yesterday.

Gubbins are receiver and a jlog mounted on top. 6s long packs unusual but try and if not put the optional carbon tray on. If you haven't bought the packs buy more standard ones!

After a major wallet denting excercise and explaining to her indoors why her new kitchen doesnt yet have an oven (or work surface, or underfloor heating etc etc) I think I just about have all the bits and it's 'complete build' time.

I'm inexperienced here so any pointers will be appreciated.

My Lipos I bought annoyingly come with 8AWG wire and getting these into EC5's once tinned has led to sessions of much swearing. Gonna have to trim the Lipo wire down as it only goes into 10AWG on the ESC.

Positioning stuff for Cof G was my first job. Though the ESC requiremnts want the max length of wire from ESC to Lipo's no longer than 20cm. Do you guys have your connections at the back of the heli or do you manage at the front and still manage access?

I'm only waiting for a EC3 to RX connector for the LiFe battery I got from from Maj (Cheers Maj) so I can directly connect power to the Demon 3SX.

What has got me stumped with electric heli's is the order I to program/connect stuff.

I have a YEP ESC OPTO (no BEC) a Demon 3SX. To programme the ESC I think I need to connect the Lipo's for power to get to the programming card. This correct?

Or do I connect up the 3SX first and bind the TX, as the ESC programming requires me to set the throttle end points first.

If someone could let me know in which order I should be doing things as manuals are too product specific.

                                my guess =
Input basic heli settings, correct swash and turn off all mixes on TX
connect 6.6V to 3SX and bind to transmitter
                                Setup 3SX on PC
Connect 1 6S lipo for now and programme all ESC settings with progcard except the cell count for 12s setup (will do this once I'm happy with programming for other parameters)

Pre flight checks to check servo and motor directions are correct.

Have I missed anything? Thanks in advance for any help
