    Rob runs thunder power packs.

    The frame spacing is 68mm
I run opti 6s 5000 ultras in my g4 and they fit one ontop of the other fine so if the width is right the hight isnt an issue.

The g4 and e820 run the same frames.

Just upgraded one of my E720's to an E820 and it works a treat.

Don't anyone get confused the 820 is just a stretched 720 with a longer boom, torque tube, canopy, blades and obviously the gearing has to be adjusted for efficiency.

I was eager to know just how 12s would cope with the massive 815 Edge blades but after a little pinion changing and a lower kv motor this thing rocks.

Having had both the Logo Xxtreme and the Goblin 770 both on 14s this Raptor eats them both for lunch on 12s regarding agility and power output due to it being almost half the weight.

The question remains is it up to the job, I had a main gear break into 3 pieces today but blame myself for getting the meshing too tight, easily fixed and ready for flying again as I type this.

Double bonus is it shares the same battery trays (and batteries) as my current e720 G4's so its a win win situation.

As soon as the weather picks up I will get a video posted, Ben Mayhew (heliben on here) watched me fly it both yesterday and today and its certainly no slouch.

I did wonder what one would be like on 12s running about 1300 rpm on the head, the same weight as a g4 with much lower disk loading. It is tempting to give it blast. Big heli with not alot of weight.

I didnt realise it was just a stretched 720?

I would go 14s purely as its spinning large blades it will be much more efficient. Obviously I wont need the power lol but to keep things sweet it would be 14s. Did you have the 770 on 12s also? That is really a 14s heli according to Bert although others say its fine on 12s. I never tried it as its INSANE on 14s with the 850

Seemed to have more than enough umph on 12s, i imagine it would be a beast on 14s

If I had some 7s packs I would definitely go the 14s route Ben, As I haven't its a great expense to start purchasing bigger lipos to fly it with.

Both my Xxtreme and the Goblin 770 were on 14s, When the helis went I sold the 7s packs.

Cheers Tim, got any pics close up pics without the cano. Also, when you had the Kosmik, was there any other place for it other than on the side? I dont mind putting it there just wonder how much it would upset the heli if at all??

Still much to think about. So many options with the larger heli's atm. I could also go and make the Triabolo an 800 or get a Diabolo 800.

I'm sure Mattie Lodge squeezed a Kosmik under the boom mount, Maybe he still has the image somewhere.

This is the nearest picture I have.

Why does no one use the front tray?

The main reason is so you don't have to **** about taking the canopy on and off every time you fly.

Nothing stopping you using it, I try to get the C of G correct and spreading the hardware out this way proves easy.

Double bonus of connecting the lipos from the rear is you never have to remove the canopy all day.... Winner.

Yes CoG is important so thats the reason its not used.

Under the boom block it would be then for me I guess. Only issue being getting the SD card out but after the first few flights I guess it wont need to come out unless theres an issue.

Front mounted Kosmik keeping the no canopy off approach for loading the batteries, best of both worlds. This machine is the best 800 class I have owned to date which isn't many ;-) It has so much agility at low headspeed where others required the headspeed cranked up to get them moving prob the fact the other main one weighs a ton. Will see how it holds up over the summer if I can keep it that long.

Looks great Maj. Closest I came to buying a Raptor.

But its just a stretched G4 isn't it with a different cano as Tim mentions above, that was the main reason I just opted for the Xxtreme as I wanted a non stretched 800, a true 800 as it were.

Look forward to how you find it Maj as I wouldn't rule anything out
