I see that this treads quite old but on my second hand rave airframe i can see that the blade grips have been updated to the bolt on ball links, but im now concerned about the tail rotor hub failing and i can't tell which one i have. The r7 hubs which are on sale at fast-lad have code ND-YR7-AS1008 is this the correct ones?

    Thanks

I'm 99% sure it is the newest one. I just got one myself actually, just for peace of mind. I remember seeing a thread with someone asking why the new tail hub has the little o-rings so based on that and also that FL have 'new version' on there I am assuming it's the latest greatest one.

----thanks Tony, yeah this one has a blue line on it. Otherwise visually I didn't see much, if any, difference from the one that was on mine originally.

Cheers but the reason I'm questioning the fl one is that Rachel has posted the code of the fl one as a faulty one too? Any body know if fl will be keeping all the rave stuff as a product line. As ive just found out that midland have dropped the Next D Products and only selling off stock.

i wouldnt worry, fastlads have virtually full spares stock and it tends to stay that way

The company is certainly very active with new stuff coming out. There's the ballistic now and the 630 version etc. I would think there are some sponsored pilots in the UK?

We're at a point where there are lots of helis out now and they're all competing for everyone's attention, so sometimes it seems you won't hear anything about a particular brand for a while but it's just because something else is part of the current 'buzz'.

                    Hi Clark

The tail hub has been undated on your rave but the blue line may have rubbed off as it has been o there for a while!

                    cheers

Even if FL don't have the parts I just ordered a load of parts for my Raves from Amain Hobbies in the states, price for the parts was almost the same but in $ and I think shipping was $15, can't remember exactly but it was quite a bit less expensive than here anyway. Getting CY parts is not going to be an issue Clark.

Re: Rave Env Blade Grip Ball Warning

Aye, I got a fair few parts from the state's without issue. Cy can sell direct to for hard to find parts but they are popular helis and well supported

I must admit, I was more than a bit annoyed with mine on Saturday but only because I had a nightmarish time with a pair of LiPos I had wrapped together into one long stick and then they wouldn't fit, then got stuck. So I had to have a good look at the situation and see what could be done and last night I totally solved the problem. Mind you, this is only an issue with the electric version, so you'll never have any such experience with the nitro. I have solved the problem by moving around some braces, moving the battery tray up higher, reducing down to just two straps and routing the rear strap around the outside of some frame members. So now all the fiddly hard to reach elements with the straps are solved and with a couple bolt heads gone that were sticking out in the way, even an old puffed Turnigy pack will fit.

The front strap has plenty of room underneath to get it pulled snug and the rear one is now easy to deal with around the outside of the frames. I have the ESC mounted vertically on the side now which places the wires more in reach. The long stick LiPos can now slide in entirely from the back between the boom stays so it should be possible now to change packs without removing the canopy.

The upshot of this excercise is also that the C of G will be raised about 1.5cm, probably not enough to notice.

The next thing to do is fabricate some kind of tray for the RX Lipo in the nose. There is a big space between the front of the frames and the inside of the nose of the canopy and there's no room on the frames for a decent size RX LiPo, so just that issue to solve now.

The Rave is fully kitted out, Shame it was so windy today tho. Although it has now given me time to change all the links.

Does anybodies nitro rave here have a starter shaft that moves really free? mine seems rather stiff. Ive dropped the ngine but still quite stuff.

                              Cheers
