Just an idea !! would it not be easier to just put bolt through from rear , tighten the screw and tighten horn on to both, sounds a little dodgy a load off amateur machinists drilling out hole on such an important part .

Hmmm.... would like to see that in writing if i had one, not saying that there are any bodger here but i have seen quite a few shockers from d.i.y machinists and cant believe the makers are happy to let people do there own modification to blade grips on a 700 size heli

The swash plate balls on the Raptor X50 are male threaded like the Rave blade grip but if you go for the 140 deg swash upgrade, you get extended balls with female thread and two cap bolts that screw in through the back side of the mounting point. Just like you're suggesting. Works fine.

I will say It came from a trusted source :-)

But allways after the event !!!! lol

One other thing to say is that the mod whilst stopping inflight failiures Will up the amount of Grip damage in a crsh , a classic case of you cant have your cake and eat it !!!! lol

Yeah just noticed on that Hobby Hanger link it says "These balls eliminate the problem of the thread getting broken off inside the blade grip in a crash" ....yep know its gonna rip your whole blade grip arm off LOL

Edit:- Funneh they say that and not cause of the old ones break under normal flying conditions

Rave ENV lade Grips the cure.

Ok parts arrived very quickly from Fast Lad :-)

                            you need part no ND-YR7-AS1087

They come with two sets of bolts one for the thicker blade grips like mine , and two shorter bolts to use with the other style blade grips which secure the blade grip ball with a nut.

I did NOT drill out the arms as the supplied bolts were not shouldered so drilling is not needed (no instructions supplied )

I then screwed the ball on to the bolt with thread lock.

                            Job Done !!!!!!

I should add I received a reply from Nicola at fast Lad who explained that Cye constantly develop the Env and my failure was very rare ! Typical of my luck lol.

Oh I have also changed the tail rotor hub , part no ND-YR7-AS1008 as these have been known to brake too.

                            my picture shows

Top left the right pertrusion for my style of blade grip

Top Right the original blade grip ass (Change it NOW !!!!!!!!)

Bottom left the new style unbreakable ball :-)

                            Bottom right the new parts.

I hope all Rave owners find this informative and helpfull and I look foward to many hours of fun with Dave 2 .

Shame I had to find this out the hard way but the model helicopter industry doesn't seem to do recalls.

                            happy Raving all

That's a great post Rachel.... While I didn't have any problems with the stock arms, the new arms are simply bullet proof. CYE is always looking for improvements in their products to the benefit of us all.
