    Rave Env Blade Grip Ball Warning

    Just a heads up all , when flying Dave 2 today one of the extended balls on the blade grip snapped clean off

    Some how with one blade fluttering away I managed to get him the right way up and auto him down
    The damage was limited to a broken under carriage .

    I have posted this as a warning as I personally have seen this happen 3 times now , twice with the older style grips with the wide arms as I have and once with the new grips that have a nut that bolts the ball on to the grip.

    Has anyone else seen this or know why it's happened ? After all I am not exactly a smack down pilot and tend to be quite easy on the pitch ???

          my mates did that on its 2nd flight, he didnt get away so lightly...

            I am not sure if it's already known and no I have not spoken to cye as the last time I emailed them it was ignored,....
            I posted this because as far as I am concerned if it happens to a mediocre sports pilot like me it's worrying .
            Cye can contact me if they want to my advice would be to change the balls on the blade grips often I will

              There is a contact on cye website, and when i emailed them ages ago about a issue with the 450 i had Nick maxwell replied, and so i expect they will be very keen to hear of this issue, email away rachel

                    As you know Rachel,cye are very good with there customer support, and im sure they would like to know about this,also may reimburse you with new part's in place of the broken bits,Brian is top's for replying to e-mail's,your's Marty.

                        Chris , i am not sure it came as a shock and i didn't look at which one.
                        Andy and all i will email cye and see they are normally very good indeed.

                        its certainly an odd failure the heli is less than 25 flights old and its not a component you can check it snapped the thread
                        such a shame as I was enjoying the flight as allways i love the rave . I had to sell a heli to fund the logo Baaaaaa , I sold the t rex .


                        It was such a lucky save .

                          Remember when the ball on my rave snapped at grassroots I spoke to Colin bell about it ages ago and he did say he mentioned to it to Curtis that it needs to be a lot bigger

                            It needs a bigger sized thread on the ball IMHO as its too small,why they didn't just use something chunky like Align use and is perfect I will never know.

                              Yes Adam I do remember yours , which is my only knowledge of a "newer type" ball with a nut style blade grip that has failed .
                              From memory your damage was quite bad and put you right off the Rave , which is a shame because they are fab .
                              I have emailed CYE and will keep checking for a reply, I have been contacted by a high up Cye pilot who hasn't seen this failure before but offered any help they can give, so I say thank you ! To him a true gentleman as always :-)

                              I wonder if the align balls are the right length as the arm could always be tapped out ?? I will see later .
