my 700 with the 3rd bearing block and adjustable mesh has now had 4 1/2 gallons through it and the gear hasn't yet stripped
but the main gear is getting the black dirt seen on many 700 main gears so it may fail soon
i didn't go flying this weekend but i hope to go both days next weekend and i will be flying the 700 only (unless the main gear strips)

on a side note my 600 sport stripped a tooth off its front tail belt gear in flight so it may be down to poor plastic (the gear end not the pulley on the shaft)
the 600 is only 18 months old and has had the be fully rebuilt due to being worn out, all the bearings + bearing holders, the complete head (swash, washout base, the bearings, the mixing arms where the bearings sit and the blade holder bearing holes + the blade bolt holes, all the plastic parts)
where my sceadu 50 (non evo) is 7 years old and only has the main gear worn giving it a noisy gear train (it still has all of the original bearings etc that are all perfectly servicable) and the sceadu has done miles more flying than the 600

i will be looking very close at the new sceadu sdx if the price isn't too high
if the price is right i will pull the engine and radio from the 600 and sell the 600 air frame

and don't hold your breath that the model mags will put the gear issue into print as they won't upset align or any other manufactor so that they will get the next new model free to reveiw/bull up

my homepage is now running a bit of preamble and link to this thread.

I'm also going to poke something on the Align forum.

          quote from mattie-lodge
Sorry guys I'm not so sure it is a 3rd bearing block issue but I may be wrong.

if we take a look at the freya 60/90 the mainshaft has only 2 bearings spaced like the 700 but the frames around the mainshaft bearings are a lot narrower
and you do have an option to fit the 3rd bearing block off the eagle range
my freya 90 (was a 60 airframe now with 90 gearing) runs the std 60 plastic main gear (not recomended by hirobo for a 90), it costs £10.28
and i have not had one fail, after crashing the freya a few weeks ago i have replaced the gear due to wear (noisy gear train like the sceadu gets) with the std 60 gear
i have run the model for 5 years and i don't now how long before that it was run with a 70 in it (i bought it 3rd hand, the lad i had it from took the 70 out of it for a raptor)
the 90 derlin gear costs around £40
and the gear is mod 1

i think the 700 problem is frame flex with the wrong mod gear, the gear not deep enough+ out of round and poor alignment of the pre-drilled holes in the mainframe

Warranty, scream WARRANTY, if everyone claimed from their retailers for their broken gears and any other damages caused as a direct result, you can bet that Align would start to become "concerned"

There are two UK distributors, has anyone spoken to them directly ?
            Janek

Why does it always persist down at weekends ?

You'll get no joy from Robbe, especially on damage caused by the failure I'm still waiting for a new set of cyclic servos for my 500 and that's after Robbe replaced my ESC after trying their level best to tell me they'd had no other failures of ESC's

The important words in my first paragraph are "if everyone" and "retailer".

Your contract is with the retailer, therefore warranty claims are between you and the retailer, not with the distributor (unless you happen to purchase direct from one of the distributors), the retailer then has to progress his claim to the distributor, and the distributor they claim to the manufacturer.

Totally agree with you chris. The likes of rob Blake, andrew from maxpoly, angelos from Spartan etc etc all chime in and help when needed, and reap the results of their hard work, yet anyone to do with align seem to avoid any problems like the plague, perhaps safe in the knowledge that they don't "need" to be active because everyone buys their products anyway. I will of course take it all back if someone comes on here and trys to resolve the issues.

Calling out the Align reps probably isn't going to help matters, communication from Align is poor at the best of times (trust me I know) and if there were any news to be shared it would be all over HeliFreak before it got anywhere near the distributors.

Kicking the rep won't fix the problem, I'm sure they are already keen to fix this just suffering the same comms blackout as the rest of us.

Align have brought a 90 size helicopter to us which is affordable for a lot more people through kit prices spares radio gear and engines. This has allowed many more people to experience flying a bigger and more powerful machine. Align have had small glitches throughout there range of products and always created a fix like many other manufacturers. Surely its only a matter of time before this situation is resolved.

Any idea when the -1 gear will be in Adie? I think this is the fix. Does anyone know of the -1 part stripping?

Dunno if it's been mentioned before, or if anyone's thought of it yet, but it could be that it needs a 3rd bearing block... you know - under the main gear

                              LOL
                              Cheers,

the -1 gear has already stripped...... as far as I am aware this problem still only effects 'some' machines rather than all. Bit of a lottery as to whether you get a good one or a bad one.
