Congrats Tim I bet you were buzzing at the time.

When you mention the starter, is that the one I sold you? I had the same problem, it'd turn it over a couple of time then get stuck. I put it down to me using a new-old-stock OS 91 c-spec that was maybe stiffer than most. Like yourself I used a cordless and that did it no problem. I also noticed the wires out the forcepack got pretty warm. I never tried the starter off a car battery maybe that would help, also it might be worth beefing the wires up since its obviously pulling a good few amps to get the cable that warm.

BTW the starter is this one from Midland:

      Duh!

Tim sorry mate, I've miss sold you that starter.

If you look at the Midland heli page and scroll up a bit they state that its not ideally suited to 90 size engines. I haven't a clue why I thought it was, I think I saw the heavy duty bit and must have assumed No wonder it wouldn't turn my OS 91 over.

Let us know if you want a refund and I'll cover it including postage.

Sorry Tim, let me make things right. It was an honest mistake, honest!

You can return and I'll refund you the money including postage so your not out of pocket at all. But that seems a bit pointless given the low value of the stuff and the fact its offset by postage costs.

How about I just give you back the £25 and you keep the charger? Should make up for the disappointment.

Real sorry about that dude. Totally my mistake.

I wish had now. I just thought I'd got a stiff engine since had been sat around for about 3 or 4 years in a storeroom before being used by myself. Little did I realise I'd bought a 50 starter thinking it was for a 90.

                    Thanks Jamie..

Hard to think I cut my teeth on a Raptor 30 then moved on to the Raptor 50's

Been flying electric for quite some time now (and still love em) but really fancied the 700 for some reason..

Will be asking questions regarding the tuning in future posts so don't go far will ya..

Nice one Tim, welcome to the heavy nitro drinking club
I am hoping my mate will let me have a play on his 700 tonight so i can't wait, think it might be bad for my pocket though as i will want one then.
Took a bit of time to get my 90 engine working well, need to fiddle quite a bit with the needles to get it to run smooth through to high RPM, the 91 seems to be more effected by running rich and won't rev unless it is lean enough, so take your time when setting the engine up, took me 3 flights to get it right, and then the fuel will last a bit longer then

                          90 starting..

                          Hi Tim

My 90 can be a bit of a pig to start what i tend to do is prior to starting is take out the plug, fuel off, and turn it over until nothing blows out the hole, replace plug, apply the glow starter, fuel on, then turn over, this work's most of the time.... if it still refuse's to turn over loosen the plug slightly to reduce compression, once it's fired tighten the plug and away you go...............

Best of luck with your 700 mate

Don't worry Tim, I'll have my LiPo powered Dynatron starter with me - starts everything

We'll get the tuning sorted too, if you haven't already
                            Looking forward to it!!
                            Cheers,

I'm only using a lowly 4S 3200 pack on mine, but it packs a punch, and lasts for aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaages

I charged it recently for the first time in a month, and it was only down to about 40%!
